Best piece of advice I can give you is (weather permitting) stay outside in the grass as much as possible. No coffee tables to bang heads on, no concrete to skin knees upon, and no drawers to get into. And kids love being outside (at least mine does). Grass is the best. And being outside wears them out for nap time ?

That's some pretty solid advice lol hopefully he doesn't pick up a dog terd and try to eat it.

Our little girl is 10 days old, and I’ve gotta say, it ain’t as bad as people make it out to be. First couple nights at home before that first pediatrician appt were rough because we weren’t feeding her enough and he basically said bump those feeding numbers up and unless you’re a total dumb arse, you can’t feed them too much.

3 am feedings suck and she’s a little randomly fussy between 7 and 11, but usually we can just feed her more and she’s back happy again.

Keep em fed, keep em in a dry diaper, and it’s an amazing experience about 95% of the day.

To be fair, we’re in our early 30’s and pretty much the last couple in our friend groups to have kids, so we’ve learned from everybody else’s problems. Couldn’t imagine having a child before 25.

be thankful you didn't have the NICU "experience". Both of my boys spent weeks in there...THAT is far more difficult than anything at home

High highs and low lows, enjoy the good times!

If you’re lucky it gets better when they’re 4

Yep, my wife and I just had our first child born at 26 weeks and 1 lb. our little girl has been in the NICU for 10 weeks now. Hoping and praying she’ll be home by Christmas at this point. Been in the NICU every single day since she was born.

Wish she was an annoying little PITA at home and not stuck in the NICU. Count your blessings because we can’t wait til the sleepless nights after we finally get to take her home.

Treat your wife like she’s going through the toughest part of her life. It’ll give you purpose and strength.
And understand that for a while, she might not feel like herself for a multitude of reasons, both physical and mental.

Lol no worries. If I hadn’t been through this journey myself I’d be talking just like you. Having gone through it though it has definitely helped me realize what’s important in life and our faith has definitely grown. It’s a roller coaster ride through the NICU with a ton of ups and downs but she’s been having plenty of good days recently. premies are tough little fighters!

Mine are 9 and 12 and I still remember those days. It really doesn’t last long and I actually miss it now. You’ll be fine.

This is the easy part. He sleeps all day and can't go anywhere.

Might not be getting enough to eat. Get your wife to pump and see how much milk she's making. May have to supplement with formula but that's no big deal.

Definitely check this out. Happened to my niece. She had no idea the little guy wasn't getting enough to eat. He didn't even cry much.

The baby could also have colic, so check that out. Had a nephew who cried incessantly until they figured out he had colic.

If your wife pumps, you can take turns feeding which will give both of you some rest. Sometimes, it just works better for people depending on them and the baby.

Doesn't really get better for a few years. People convinc themselves it does as a coping mechanism.

Enjoy having family pictures more than you have sex.
