Chartered Management Institute head Ann Francke said sports banter can exclude women and lead to laddish behaviour such as chat about sexual conquests.
"A lot of women, in particular, feel left out," she told the BBC's Today programme.
"They don't follow those sports and they don't like either being forced to talk about them or not being included."
"I have nothing against sports enthusiasts or cricket fans - that's great," she said.
"But the issue is many people aren't cricket fans," she added, arguing bosses should crack down on sports banter.
Ms Francke is concerned that discussing football and, for example, the merits of video assistant refereeing (VAR) can disproportionately exclude women and divide offices.

will they also crack down on Hallmark movie and bachelor/bachelorette discussions?
Posted on 1/27/20 at 1:00 pm to RLDSC FAN
Does that mean they don't get to talk about the Bachelorette or their kids too?
Posted on 1/27/20 at 1:01 pm to RLDSC FAN
Will they also force women not to talk about the bachelor?

Every time I read a story like this I give less of a shite about the gender wage gap

So... what are people supposed to discuss? Actual work?

I would never utter a word about football again if it meant I never had to hear some woman at work drone on about her kids

Well, in this case she's talking to the BBC and so football is actually soccer. Hard to argue with her on that point.

I have a desire to type something extremely significant and opinionated, I want to be clear and passionate. But....I am speechless.....

I mean, I just don't understand why companies wouldn't want to hire more women.
They contribute so much like frivolous harrassment lawsuits, they like to take more time off and demand the same pay as those who work more, they demand company provided feminine products, they take 3-4 months of maternity leave, and now they want to control what people chat about in the office. What a great value they add to the workplace!!!

"Did you see that header that Kane scored against City last weekend? I was banging this hot blonde on the floor of my flat when it went in. Did you see it, Barb?"
