How are civilians standing around next to the sirens and not covering their ears or taking off?

The mosque was converted to a cathedral in 1236 when Córdoba was captured by the Christian forces of Castile during the Reconquista. The structure itself underwent only minor modifications until a major building project in the 16th century inserted a new Renaissance cathedral nave and transept into the center of the building. The former minaret, which had been converted to a bell tower, was also significantly remodelled around this time. Starting in the 19th century, modern restorations have in turn led to the recovery and study of some of the building's Islamic-era elements.[16][17] Today, the building continues to serve as the city's cathedral and Mass is celebrated there daily.

Went there in 2008. Quite an impressive structure. Big. If I recall correctly, the cathedral inside takes up a relatively small part of the building and the cathedral isn’t small.

By the same standards the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople (Istanbul) is still a Cathedral.

This thing has not been a Mosque since around when Columbus sailed the oceans blue

Use the same one. It's always appropriate.

Yeah, hate to see this happening to historical buildings, they can’t be replaced.

There are no coincidences, I just watched El Cid less than 48 hours ago, and I stumbled upon this thread. Kind of spooky actually. An absolutely fantastic movie, a true Hollywood epic which I hadn’t watched in 40 years.

Instable.

It's a famous city in the Middle East I think.

It might be near the Check Republic.
