Yes, it can be done that way. There are good attorneys which will handle such reasonably. I do believe there still needs to be a social worker involved but the attorney is the best guide on that.

No offense to your friend but she needs to be working not thinking about college. If the kids get adopted that’s another story but that’s not gonna be overnight.

I've done two private non-family adoptions. It requires almost as much red tape as a commercial agency adoption. However, it is more rewarding because the adults get to control the outcome and the kid gets to meet a birth parent when the kid is ready.
