How does a private adoption with no agency go thru?
Can the mom just pick parents she is comfortable with and sign the baby to them or is there more to it ( obviously lawyer involved to handle legal issues and to vet parents.

Our young pregnant fiend is college bound with scholarship and has wisely chosen to give her babies (twins) to someone who is ready to provide the babies03 with the life they deserve. She has asked us to help find the parents for her baby.

She prefers the babies goes to young infertile couple with no children. Has anyone been party to an private adoption like this.

It sounds like the potential parents need a good family lawyer.

100% go through an agency. The wife and I adopted our young one through an agency, and heard horror stories of birth moms that tried to do private adoptions. There are some weird, over-aggressive, potential adoptive parents out there that see this more as a business venture than anything. The agencies will weed out those people, and allow for the birth mother to pick from a pool of potential parents, then provide all their care along the way.

She is lucky she has smart friends like you to help her with this. Make sure to tell the family court judge that you checked on Tigerdroppings first to make sure you did everything right.

I highly recommend she contact St. Elizabeth Foundation here in Baton Rouge. Or, if she prefers, Catholic Community Services. Both do effective pre-screening to ensure the babies are going to good homes (capable parents with morals, financials to support twins). Better yet, she can look through a portfolio of qualified families and actually choose where they go.

ETA: My understanding is that both agencies handle the legal requirements of the adoption.

Friend in college used an agency she was referred to by her Catholic priest. The agency was affiliated with teh Catholic Church, but did not limit potential adoptive parents to being Catholic. She didn't get to pick the parents, but did have a say on what type of parents she wanted the baby to go to.

My wife and I adopted a brother and sister. We were referred to by the adoption ministry at Healing Place church. We do not go there. We also had a local attorney that does placement. On Point Legal.
