I guess the OP still has teeth….

All depends on the quality of the meat. You can do more with a sub=prime ribeye than a sub-prime filet.
But nothing beats a quality prime cut filet med-rare.

The reason I disagree is, I thinks it's rated appropriately. I mean, most people I know buy ribeyes way more often than filets. So yeah, they are not the best steak, but are probably rated appropriately.

i do love a good filet but its 100% overrated, but most people do not like to eat fat period. Most eat filets at steak houses with good sauces too.
I am not a fan of strips unless its A5. I do not like the texture nor do i feel it has a ton of flavor unitl you get into the really expensive cuts.
Ribeye is over course my favorite but I do find that in restruants many times it is over cooked compared to a filet. So unless its an extremely high end steak house or Ruths where i can get a tomahawk...im getting a filet most of the time.
underrated as frick: flat iron, tri-tip, hanger, denver(blade steak) ...........................................most underrated is the chuck eye steak. Lvoe them.

I do not care for a butter soaked steak.
I agree, but just so you know you can just ask them not to do the butter sear if its not your style.
For me a filet with a seafood tower app and a glass of wine is a pretty damn good meal regardless of who you want to compare them to.
No skin in the game here, but it seems like the ROI diminishes quickly as you start to talk about places in Vegas etc like StripSteak, Prime or Bazaar Meat where it becomes more about prestige or novelty rather than the actual quality of the cut.

Wouldn't call filet overrated...but put me squarely in the New York Strip camp...

Ribeye is where it’s at.
Lupe Tortilla makes some dope filet mignon fajitas, but other than that i never am going to order it.
ribeye or porterhouse is the answer.

I dont think a real steak house, not Texas Roadhouse, has ribeye on the menu?

Does the OT not eat NY strip? Easily my favorite cut with simply salt and pepper to make a nice crust. All I ever see is rib-eye vs fillets.
Maybe it’s a Louisiana thing as I didn’t really eat strips until I moved to Florida almost 20 years ago.

A filet is pretty shitty if you cook it anything over medium rare, and even that gives you an inferior product.
A rare filet, properly seasoned, nice crust, USDA Prime for a lil' marbling, is far and away the best cut of meat from a cow outside of a properly smoked brisket.

bro i dont eat that with my steak. i order it to put on my potatoes lol.
but my wife and other women i know...yea they all like the different sauces.
IMO a steak shouldnt have a sauce, not even A1. a good steak doesnt need that.
