A lot of truth to that

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for breaking the monotony? I'm too young to be stuck in this boring cycle I'm currently in.
Sounds like your life lacks meaning. Not to worry, most people's does at your age.
There's more to life than accumulating stuff and working so you can afford it. Think introspectively, not externally.

I go to a job that I don't particularly enjoy and work for a boss that is what I don't particularly aspire to be
Eta: I have to be stimulated mentally, or else I get in a slump. I can go periods of time without working for a week or two, and it definitely brings me down, so I find other stuff to do. When I'm working, I'm fine

At least you don't have kids yet. I love my chirren, but boy, you want to talk about being tied down??!
I get nostalgic thinking back to the good ol free days after work haha. Go live life and change the pessimistic view of your evenings. You'll regret it!

Turn off the tv at night. Read a book. Get in bed around 10. Stop falling asleep on the couch and having to wake up to go back to sleep. Just getting to bed earlier will increase your energy level. Take some benadryl if you need to to get used to the earlier sleep time.
After that consider some of the other suggestions —- hobbies, exercise, etc.

This!
It's important to have goals and hold yourself accountable.
Get a hobby, and tie your goals to that. Want to learn to fly?, research, set a timeline, and aggressively pursue that goal.

Hobbies keep me motivated. I spend at least 3 hours a night on my hobbies. I sacrifice some sleep for it but if I had to work, go home, sleep, go to work, I couldn't do it.

Start doing different things. Most cities have a local rock climbing place, or go to Meetup and just pick random things to try. I've found that most people embrace others trying to "break the cycle" and will help them out.

The natural world is your answer, son. The answer is outdoors. Force yourself if you have to. Engage the natural world.
