I think that is part of it, she doesn’t act slutty or dress slutty. She is fairly traditional. Her generation was destroyed by Covid. Isolated and having to interact through social media has blunted them socially. We just need a way to get back to young people meeting and talking in a risk free, carefree environment.

Agreed. And her dressing and acting more traditional has something to do with it as well. It shows men she will have standards for them and she will not settle. And as I said earlier, if she maintains realistic expectations, it's okay to hold to that and not to settle.

While young men and young women are both blunted socially, the reality is that if a young woman approaches, she's not putting her career or her future at that college on the line. If a young man approaches, he's putting his career and future at that college on the line.

I would tell your daughter, don't expect the men around her to suddenly change and be assertive. If there are guys she is interested in, she needs to get comfortable making the first move and approaching. In this current environment it's simply less risky for girls to do that than it is for guys.

Also, the current college demographics are slanted towards more women than men. Most colleges break along the lines of 60% female and 40% male. Think about that for a second. If each sex paired off equally with the other, 33% of girls would be left out alone. That thought troubles me quite a bit.

Honest, no snark question: Wouldn’t dating apps help? I mean, they would see what they are getting, you don’t have to worry about the approach, and it’s self selecting in the sense that the women on the apps are also looking for a relationship.

I will definitely have to try and talk with her about being more approachable and actually not being afraid to be the one approaching. It’s just difficult for her to be something that her personality is the exact opposite of.

What makes it worse is, even with the 60/40 gender imbalance, the bottom 80% of those males won't get a chance with any woman at their college. Remember, on average, women rate 80% of men as below average. That's where the 80/20 rule comes into play.

The top 20% of men have more women available to them than ever before. But this also means those men don't have to commit. And unless the woman is also in the top 20%, those top 20% men are going to use those women as a one night stand or something casual.

So the top 20% of men will have a better experience with women and stay in the game. Whereas a huge majority of the bottom 80% of men will have a negative experience with women and largely just give up by their mid or late 20s. And we're already seeing that.

Just tell her to remember, it's not easy for us guys either. I feel like so many young women think it's so easy for young men to approach. It seems like so many young women think all young men are extroverted, when in fact many are also introverted.

I'm being fully genuine when I say this, in high school and college I was also on the shy side. It was very intimidating for me to approach girls. But as a guy, socially, I didn't have a choice. And yes I got rejected, twice I was even flat out laughed at. But I had to approach as I was expected to be the one who initiated. But I was in college in the mid and late 2000's, so it wasn't as risky for guys to approach.

There might be a shy guy who is also interested in her, and he's also too afraid to approach, especially in the current dating climate.

If she stays too shy to approach, she's going to end up with a lot of "what if's" and possibly end up being bitter. It will be hard for her, but she might find it changes her dating luck significantly.

I will tell you right now, even though I'm obviously outside of her generation, I find a woman who has enough confidence to approach a man very attractive. I've talked to other men who also say a woman who has enough confidence to approach is a very attractive trait for them as well.

The largest impact feminism has on me is that I chose to stay home and raise three amazing children to adulthood, with all the sleepless nights, sports, school projects.. and yet I feel judged as lazy by society for not also maintaining a career at the same time.

Once we were grown, my mom would occasionally make comments like this and I always thought it was shitty. She was a great lady and awesome mom.

And you know who would make her feel that way? Not men, other women. And never a doctor or an engineer. Some fricking bitch who was a damn realtor or something would be the one to give her the condescending look for being a stay at home mom.

Dating apps are awful for a guy. I actually did a test earlier this year. I flat out liked 200 women on a dating app. I didn't even look at their profile, just flat out swiped right on 200 women.

3 of those women matched with me. Out of those 3, 2 ended up being bots/scammers that were clearly just going to ask for money eventually. And the 1 who was legitimate never responded after my first message.

Dating apps flat out destroy men. Dating apps are what have caused many women to have unrealistic standards. And it's because of the psychology that there might be a better man just one swipe away. Dating apps were part of the study that showed women voted 80% of men as below average. In my honest opinion, dating apps are a big part of the problem.

But to answer your question, I have tried multiple dating apps. I've had a few dates here and there but nothing has genuinely come from them. And dating apps can easily make you feel really bad about yourself.

Exactly, hypergamy compounds the problem. There are a lot of great guys who are 5’s but end up with just as many opportunities as 2’s.

Reminds me of a woman who couldn’t figure why her brother never dated and had basically given up. She decided to take over his dating apps, profiles etc to help him. She viewed him as above average in every sense, not 8 to 10 range, but definitely better than most. She thought this was just him being lazy. Turned out his hopelessness was real. She witnessed first hand what he had been dealing with as months went by without any positive feedback.

We need to destroy dating apps and put kids and young adults face to face, interacting with each other again.

I sat thru as much of that cackling as I could. Maybe five minutes. I didn’t find it the least Bit fascinating.
It’s women overthinking one of the human species most primitive and basic instincts. Sex. But they never once consider that their overthinking of the issue in the first place is the reason it’s all so dysfunctional now.
Synopsis: women over complicated a basic concept leading to outcomes they didn’t want and are now shocked. So they will now overthink and over analyze these results further delaying the course correction they actually seek.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

It’s much harder to make a woman laugh and show her your personality through a picture.

Your thoughts? Anyone else here watch these videos and find them as fascinating as I do?

I'm in my 40s, happily married with kids, and have no desire to ever go on the dating market.

I keep up with all of the latest conversations on dating stories, intersexual dynamics, and relationship statistics. It's fascinating to me to see how our society is shifting, particularly when considering the world my kids are entering into.

I think feminism has done good work in some areas. Women should be free to work, get educated, and choose the lifestyle they want to live. The opposite viewpoint would be akin to Afghanistan where women are completely subjugated within a patriarchal system. Those women need feminism, and their men need it as well.

The problem is that feminism--like most ideological and theoretical frameworks--splits into sections that favor extremism. I remember the 90s throwing in some jokes about "man hating" women. There was the Futurama episode of the Amazonian society where men didn't exist except to procreate. Or in Jurassic Park:

quote:

Dr. Ian Malcolm: "God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man, man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs."

Dr. Ellie Sattler: "Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth."

In today's society, social media distributes such rhetoric with a velocity that is difficult to contain. There is a large segment of women who speak openly online about how much they HATE men. They are fearful of men. They believe men should be lonely or that they should disappear. They pinpoint isolated groups of men (who also suck BTW) who write demeaning and perverse comments on women's pages. Then they extrapolate the behavior of those small groups of men onto the entirety of men. They conclude that men hold no value.

There was a recent viral trend where girls would ask if it was worth it to get married. Plenty of single cat ladies would say, "NEVER!" But what was alarming was how many women would say, "I'm married to a wonderful man, and we're living a fulfilling life. But I would NEVER encourage a girl to get married."

Why?

Because they've been poisoned.

I think women have a natural disposition to desire caretaking from their partner. It makes sense, right? Women want to nest; men want to provide. That leads to an air of unaccountability because women want and will communicates those desires perpetually. In a harmonious relationship, men enjoy providing, and what might come across as "nagging" is actually an organic characteristic of building a family. It's not nagging when the partners are giving and taking with compassion, care, and respect.

When social media enters the picture, women are told they are they only ones giving and the men are taking. They are the only ones with compassion, care, and respect and the men are selfish, obstinate, and oppressive. They are the ones who can blossom in this world; men are merely hindrances to their ability to thrive.

Hence why women believe they deserve a 6-6-6 man. Because how else can they conceptualize value when they believe all men are worthless?

Anyways--I'm writing too much of an essay here. I don't think it's going to get better for a long time. And I do worry about the future when men feel so ostracized by women that they feel the need to retaliate.

That was pretty much my experience as well. I'm honest with myself, I'm not tall and I'm a little overweight (5'8", 195 lbs) and I'm working on getting more in shape. But I don't consider myself ugly or hideous either and most women I know don't consider me ugly or hideous. There are many men less attractive than me.

I'm truly probably right in the middle, as a 5. And yet on the dating apps I would really get the same opportunities as a 1 or 2. Most of the matches I would get were, just to be completely honest, really unattractive significantly overweight (not just chubby) women. I felt like I didn't get any better options than a man my height who weights 300 lbs and can barely get off the couch or out of bed would get. Plus dating apps just aren't any fun. It makes dating, a process that should be fun, into nothing more than a job interview.

As this conversation is playing out, there are other inherent flaws Im seeing with the current environment of ubiquitous social media platforms.

With dating apps, and to some extent Insta/tiktok There is a perception of endless possibilities in partners. Why settle for an imperfect man when there are 800 others I can swipe left/right on.

Have you ever needed something on Amazon and found yourself wasting hours trying to find the “best” hair dryer or tire inflator or whatever looking thru photos and reviews. When, just twenty years ago you’d go into a Target, choose from two or three and be happy about it?

I mean a few generations ago a young woman might have had three single men at her church and she had to choose from the best of them, not the best of the entire country.

Great points. I remember that line from Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park. Meant to be a throwaway line, but a good example of some of the toxic aspects of Feminism. Women like to talk about "toxic masculinity" all the time without ever acknowledging that there can also be "toxic femininity".

I wish I could be more optimistic myself, but I share your view. I think it's going to get A LOT WORSE before it gets better. Within 2 generations I could easily see men and women essentially living in two different societies. Not in terms of physical separation. Men and Women will still interact with each other at work, within family functions and in the occasional social function. But otherwise men and women will live different lives and really won't even consider each other as potential partners. The rates of gay and lesbian relationships will skyrocket. But more than that, a lot of men and women will just become asexual.

I don't think men will retaliate as much as they will just continue to isolate and retreat. But that will have significant social impacts, such as the following:

- Men will no longer be willing to join the military to defend their country.
- Men will no longer attempt to intervene when a woman is in danger.
- Men will no longer show any respect to a woman that they wouldn't show to a fellow man (opening doors, giving up a seat on a train/subway, etc.)
- Men will no longer seek positions of responsibility as much.
- Men will no longer seek public service, such as joining police/fire departments or being involved with a community church.
- Men will no longer be active in their communities (retreating to individual outdoor hobbies like hunting, fishing or hiking or indoor hobbies like gaming where they do not have to leave their house/condo/apartment).
- Men will supplement women with AI girlfriends, AI sexbots and AI porn.

Men will essentially withdraw from society. And with that, economies will crumble and loneliness will skyrocket.

The only way I see men actively retaliating against women is if women try to destroy that peace. If women see men are happy with their friends, hobbies and AI companions and try to take that away. That is when it could get violent.

But I agree I don't see it getting better in the near future. Look at Japan and South Korea. That's the route we're going.

It's absolutely a big part of it. But it's an illusion. But that's the danger or dating apps, the illusion of choice.

As a man, you are competing with men around the world. How can an average American man dare to compete against a sophisticated handsome Hispanic man from Costa Rica? Or a sophisticated exotic man from France? The Women never think that the likelihood of actually meeting that man, even if they start talking, is next to 0. Dating apps now force men to compete against the world. That's not a game hardly any man is going to be able to win.

This is regionalized as well. I think in conservative states, especially young people at southern universities, dating is still relatively normal.

Personally I think there is hope. The cultural backlash against beta-males is proof that there are women out there who value traditional masculinity.

"Beta males" in a lot of instances are men reared in a world that valorizes being women and demonizes any and all things men.

The problem has NEVER been "beta males".

A lot of "alpha males" who beat women and commit crimes at a heinous rate. The ghettos are full of athletic, tall, "alpha males".
