I didn't think DIII football offered athletic scholarships.

So she's getting an academic one and plans to play football? Why so triggered?

Yep. Let her feel like an ant on a pool table.

There has also been a few trans teens win state championships in wrestling over the past 2 years. It's 100% unfair.

I think one of the dakotas was recently looking at passing a law to put a stop to this. not sure where it is

FWIW about the older guys on here saying they are good enough to take her just an observation. My grandfather was a sports professional and could have played NFL if it was around back then. A generation later my dad did have a shot at an NFL team before he got hurt. A generation later I had a shot at FBS football. A generation later maybe DIII and a generation later the max was solid HS player. It is not that my family got smaller but the kids who were playing got bigger (like a 200+ lb lineman in my era is now 350+ in the modern era) and they have gotten a whole lot faster. If I were trying to play now not sure I would make it as a lineman and pretty sure I would not be tall enough or fast enough to play a smaller position.

Give woman 2 - 4 generations of athletes and they could quickly evolve to a more formidable opponent but it would mean the intervening generations would have to be serious about getting better each generation in between and breeding for athletic genetics. While the probability of this happening is small it would only take 1 to break the barrier. Of course by then football may not exist in the current form as being to hard on bodies and minds.

The Roman army was one of the most formidable the world has ever know yet if memory serves they were about 5' 4" and weighed around 150 lbs. We forget that as humans we are getting taller and wider not shorter and thinner. Imagine playing in the NFL or NBA with folks just the size and weight of your grandparents or great grandparents. Women's sports are new and may be viewed with the constraints of football or basketball players of WWI to WWII. To think they will not evolve in the next 50 to 100 years seems a bit short sighted.

no way. You really want to put them back there to make a tackle with a guy coming full speed at them?

I didn't say I think it will happen but it's one of two potential positions a female may be able to crack the NFL. I don't think it will happen, but given the right circumstances, maybe.

Equally short sighted to think men won't be evolving at a faster rate as related to athletics.

There will NEVER be a legitimate female who is good enough to play in the NFL UNLESS it is at the expense of a thousand men who are infinitely better than she is.....never.

Again, there may be at some point, some legitimate female who may, posssssibly be good enough to crack the NFL, but if she makes it, there will be at least 1,000 men who are better at whatever position she chooses and didn't get the job.

I don't think a woman ever will but I don't like talking in absolutes so I'll say there is a 99.9999999% chance no woman does, but if there was one, I think it would be those or maybe (because they can't be touched) a long snapper. That would go back to would you then want the snapper running in an attempt to tackle someone who will outweigh the female by 50 lbs minimum.

Agreed, which brings me to my point that if a legitimate woman ever makes it in the NFL, it will be a 100% Affirmative Action hire because no matter what position she plays, there will be 1,000 men who are better at that position walking the streets.

I hope she gets invited to one of the senior bowls. I think it would be hilarious to try and see her meet a potential NFL running back in the hole, or try to tackle a TE on a seam route.

The article is incorrect. The school who offered her is Bethany College in KS, not WV. Bethany in KS is an NAIA school and they are allowed to offer athletic scholarships.

you contradicted yourself... If a female is good enough for the NFL, this would not be the case. Sports are the ultimate meritocracy

No, the NFL is in the business of Social Justice.
If she were "good enough" that doesn't in any way mean she is the best.
