I filled it out 30 mins ago and it says I'm eligible for 2k. That with all 4 people in my household. Maybe it's 500 a person? Gives a date of 9/9. I assume that's the deposit date, if eligible indeed means approved. Who the hell knows but if the gubment's giving out my money I'll surely accept it back.

Maybe the person said they didn't leave and their place was inhabitable.

you live in south Louisiana, you don’t expect to be without power for a couple days a few times a decade?

I’m loving all the conservatives on this board that are beating up a keyboard racing to get online to apply for their handout

This is a dumb argument. Just because you are conservative doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be interested in getting paid back for a system you paid into.

Exactly. Unfortunately I didn’t get any of my money back. It said I didn’t list any specific damages that would qualify me for the program.

Most people I have ever talked to aren’t against “welfare”…it’s the rampant abuse and the culture that follows of government dependency.

I pay a large portion of my income in taxes every year. My family is likely permanently displaced from our home after this storm. If anyone is getting money from the federal government, we should be in that pool, but have been declined. These programs are designed to act as insurance. Except the ones that pay the majority of the premiums aren’t eligible to make claims. I’m ok sharing with the folks that are displaced and can’t afford a night in a hotel or diapers for their kids, but I income shouldn’t have a thing to do with being displaced by disaster

That’s the nuance of the other side of the argument that some idiots in this thread don’t seem to understand.

I have home owners insurance and I didn't have to leave my house. I am eligible for the 500 as it shows on my account

For a disaster.

Not because we are lazy.

Some of us haven't been able to work. And we want to.

Continue killing babies you piece of shite.

After your initial denial, how long did it take for them to reverse and award the $500?

2 days for miscellaneous to pop up and another day for 500 eligible to pop. Still hasn't been deposited but that's because it is the weekend

I was denied even though I left my home and had damage.

I don't know if they'll come back and tell me I'm eligible, but it certainly doesn't make sense how they're determining who gets the funds.

Yeah, I would guess that it’s income based. And for the bigger money, I would think it’s income and whether or not you have insurance. But I’m not certain on either. It sounds like if you didn’t leave your home, and you have insurance, it’s an auto denial, but they reconsider that $500 miscellaneous in a couple of days.
