Never heard of this "Laura", but I do feel for the good people of SE Louisiana who dealt with such a catastrophic storm. You folks in other parts of the state should tighten your belt and help them out, you can't understand what they're going through.

Initially the only thing pending was housing assistance, then yesterday it showed ‘miscellaneous’ with both pending.

This morning received a $1,061 and a separate $500 deposit from FEMA. Assuming the $1,061 is for housing the $500 for miscellaneous.

It has a question about it. Specifically mentioned gas

I didn't select that one because I didn't keep gas receipts. Denied status this morning. Oh well, don't care enough to pursue it further.

I didn’t either. There wasn’t a question about receipts though lol

Yeah, I just assumed I would have trouble looking for reimbursement on anything I didn't keep receipts for. I usually don't even look at stuff like this, but figured if FEMA wanted to pay for my generator I would let them.

$753 on a Cajun Visa, wife takes her way around the income requirements.
Safeco was pretty good about weekly deposits into our checking account.

$500 is a joke! Disasters like this there should be a 2k minimum payout. What's $500 get you? 2 days in a hotel, a tank of gas and and food for 2 days? And some people want to trust the government to take care of them. Better off being prepared yourself and not to depend on the government.

My girlfriend (no pics) has a letter on her FEMA account saying she was approved today for the $1.013.00, but no money is in her checking account.

Oh well

Odd since I evacuated with my family with no power to Florida and was instantaneously denied 5 minutes after submitting our application. I don’t know a single person who was approved.

I agree 100%. Problem is, Katrina had so much widespread fraudulent claims, the agency has been reluctant ever since. IMO, FEMA knows many, many folks are desperate, their funds are running low, or out. The government is basically low balling those people, like a cheap insurance claim. I'm in agreement for at least 2k which should last at least 2 weeks.
