You’re more than likely to die on the way to the airport than you are in an airplane crash.
At least in a car crash you’ve got a decent chance of living. Plane crash...not so much.

Meridian makes the entire state of MS as well as MS State look bad. Congrats

I wonder if there is anything you could say as the plane was going down to make the people around you laugh. Anything would be better than screaming like a toddler. A good joke would be legendary. The legend would die with everyone on the plane, though. But if someone lived...the teller of the joke would be immortalized by our culture. I'm pretty sure I'll think of something funny in the moment. I'm a gamer.

There’s an old joke in the C-130 world that says the flight engineer carries a bag of monkey bones on board with him. Then in the event of impending crash, he scatters them around the cockpit while the pilots yell “who let the monkey out?!?!” to make sure it gets on the recorder. Should keep the investigators guessing for weeks.

I had it big time. I would stay up all night worrying about flying. I flew in the company Lear jet, and usually sat right behind the pilots. I got to where I would listen to everything they said, and watched the gauges. I wanted to learn as much as I could about what I was watching.
I always pop a Xanax and have a cocktail before flying, chills me out, and I am ok.

I worked at a golf course next to a major airport for about six years. Also conveniently located there was some sort oil refinery or something along those lines. It was huge and those planes would take off and land right next to it all day and night. Cured my fear of flying for good. Just the visual aspect of it made me realize those things must be pretty damn reliable.

Dumb, anyone scared to fly shouldn't drive either
In fairness, most people that are scared to fly are really scared of not being in control and having no clue what the hell is going on.

I’m fine On US based airlines but put me on an Asian airline and I get a little nervous. We already know they can’t drive, and I’m supposed to trust them at 40k ft?

f it helps, you have a much greater statistical probability of dying in a car crash than you do in a plane crash (if you are flying in the United States)
No offense to you but I hate flying and am very uncomfortable when doing it though I will when the situation calls for it with the help of a couple Xanax and booze and I hate it when ppl say this to me.
Of course everyone knows this is statistically the case but for me personally my fear of flying isn’t bc I’m scared to die necessarily as much as the experience of dying. If it’s my time it’s my time but I’d much rather go in a horrible car accident with almost no anticipation of the killshot than in a plane after plummeting to my death for 3 minutes or more knowing the entire time I was going to die. That sounds truly beyond horrifying
As an aside I guess I haven’t mastered my flying cocktail yet but sometimes I can take two Xanax and have a couple mixed drinks and be completely relaxed basically not giving a shite (it’s great) and other times I can take the pills and drink all the booze I can get my hands on and still never chill out. It’s weird
ETA: let me clarify that it’s not like
I’m building a tolerance to the Xanax, I’ve never taken except for flying and that’s at most like 10 different flights that I’ve done it on. Love me some booze but not a pill guy

I’m from bumfrick MS and had never been on a plane until I was in college. Wasn’t sure what to expect, so decided to do it big and just go skydiving. It was worth it.

After flying in a helicopter with the doors removed, flying in an airplane was a piece of cake.

I had a really bad flight some years ago that started an anxiety level when I fly that still bothers me to this day. The nervousness came more because I was hungover that first time I believe. Moral of the story is DO NOT fly hungover if you are already apprehensive of flying. It will compound your problem.
