Lewis Grizzard was great. “Elvis is dead and I don’t feel so good myself.”

Jerry Clower was a funny and extremely nice man. I met him at a 4-H club event my grandfather was helping setup in Mississippi.

Ron White cracks me up. In terms of cajun comedians, I go way back to a Bud Fletcher. My dad had a few albums of him. I got to listen to some of it. You can youtube the guy.

According to wikipedia he was a county agent, so that was right in his world.

Lewis Grizzard was the greatest. Got to see him in early 90s and still have the majority of his books autographed. He had a book signing in Cortana Mall once and I had him sign a employee hat from the Varsity, he loved it. I would love to be able to read a column from him concerning today's news.

Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, Rodney Carrington, Jerry Dye, Olle Joe Pratter, Ralphie May, Ron Shock, Bill Hicks, Vic Henley, Carry Long. All good southern comics that played for me at the Funny Bone back in the day.

I know he’s not southern, but I’ve been on a real Bill Burr kick lately

Here’s a few of my favorite short clips:

An old man that lived down the street from us growing up was related to Jerry Clower through an in-law. Met him a couple times. He was a nice of a man as you’d want to meet, and as colorful one on one as he was talking to a crowd.

Bill Burr is great. Definitely not southern though, although there is some similarities between Boston comics and Southern comics. No bullshite, tell it like it is personalities.

My grandfather, who passed before l was born, was friends with Jerry Clower. They both worked together in Christian missions. He was a very good man who did a lot of things to help other people.
