Rode an Amtrak to Hazelhurst MS to visit a mop/broom manufacturer that was employed by blind people. Honestly, it was pretty fricking creepy and I didn't want to be there

Christian Brothers took us to Orleans Parish Prison. Was crazy. I’ll never forget it.

In third grade I sold tickets in our neighborhood to help fund bringing her back to Alabama.

In 6th grade me and another kid were left behind because our teacher hated us. We got to go to another classroom and we watched movies all day for some reason.

The bus broke down on the way to the place about an hour and a half away. They were stuck there for like 5 hours and had to come straight back when it finally got fixed.

Alabama = Space Camp / US Space and Rocket Center

The bus ride home was full of Astronaut Ice Cream from the gift shop.

As a kid-French Quarter and St. Louis Cathedral.
Later in my academic career I took a field trip to the Angola Prison which was quite an experience.

In 8th grade we went to St. Francisville and toured several plantations. Myrtles, Rosedown and I forgot the other one. It was a really interesting and fun field trip.

In elementary school our P.E teacher would take us on a field trip to the bowling alley. It was awesome.

If you went there for sixth grade you were prior to 1980. I was in 6th in 1980 and I remember being the last sixth grade class. Ms Edmonton class.

Yes this was 1975. I was in Mrs. Paine’s class.

5th and 6th grade we took field trips to Angola. We learned about prison rape from trustees, no lie. They convinced us it wasn’t a place to go.

In the 10th grade my civics teacher took his students to Hunt Correctional. We had a Q&A session with guards and prisoners. I remember one of the prisoners saying "the ones you have to look out for are the booty busters!"

Scared the living shite out of us! They should make all high schoolers visit a state prison at least once.
