I have only seen regionally known comedians and never been to a famous comedian's show and as much as I hate to say "because of Covid"
, but because of covid I haven't been able to go to my first famous comedian show.
I was going to go to see Chappelle & Rogan and planned to go to Las Vegas in July to go see Bill Burr (which is who I really wanted to see), but I am just not ready to travel by plane yet (not that I am worried about Covid, its just that I want to be able to completely enjoy myself and while I have no problem with mask, I don't feel like having to have one on for 4 hrs on the plane then have to wear one at the shows I go to, etc).
Hopefully I get an opportunity to see him in the coming year. I would also like to see Andrew Shultz and Theo Vonn.

Louis CK
I saw Louie live in Beijing, which they must have been very unfamiliar with his subject matter if they let him perform there. The room had almost nothing but Americans and Europeans in it (some with Chinese girlfriends), and Louie comes on stage not believing he’s allowed to do stand up here and then says let’s make sure this never happens again and just rips into China for 20 straight minutes before getting into his main set. It was incredible and probably the best stand up set I’ve seen in person.

The one that comes to mind is Don Rickles. I saw him years ago at the Golden Nugget in old downtown Las Vegas. Hilarious. I happened to be sitting right behind Sally Struthers (Meathead's wife)
Also saw Rodney Dangerfield and George Carlin in Vegas.

Burr is at a point in his career where he can book a show around sporting events he wants to go to. Does a few shows, goes to the game, and brings the family with him. Must be a liberating feeling.
Saw Bill two weeks ago a Red Rocks and he was awesome. Some people wouldn’t shut the frick up though given the venue, so that was slightly annoying.

Rodney Dangerfield at the Saenger Theatre in '82. Sam Kennison ar Municipal Auditorium (now Mahalia Jackson Theatre) in '90.

George Carlin was one of my favorite comedians but by the time I got to see him live, I thought his show was pretty weak. I loved his HBO specials back in the day.
His later specials aren’t quite as funny as some of his earlier ones, but they have aged magnificently regardless. He saw all this coming. George Carlin on germs
Man, I’d love to hear Carlin’s thoughts on today.

Ron White was also great, kind of as seen on TV though.
I was once drunk at a casino gambling and come up to a blackjack table. I look across the table and say “You look just like Ron White.” And he looks up and says “That’s because I am Ron White, you stupid frick.” We all had a good laugh and just treated him the way I’d treat any other person at a blackjack table. Some redneck woman comes up behind him saying how she’s his biggest fan and if she can have his autograph and a few pictures with him, which Ron then lights into her in the way you’d expect Ron to and the whole table started laughing their asses off. He is exactly how he is on stage as he is in real life.

Justin Wilson aboard the Riverboat President.
Jerry Clower aboard the Riverboat President. (different time)
Steve Martin a couple of times, never aboard any vessel, most especially not the Riverboat President.

My favorite right now would be Dan Cummins. I saw him four times (3 for standup 1 for his podcast) before Covid shut shite down. He never repeated a joke in any of those sets. The only time he went to his old stuff was at the end when he asked the crowd what we wanted to hear, and every time it was his "Here Come the Spoons" bit.
In my opinion, he's one of the best stand up comedians working right now, and he doesn't get the respect he deserves.

Jo Koy came to Chattanooga just before covid and did a set where he was clearly working out a bunch of new material.
He did close to a 3 hour set. He is fantastic and hilarious.
He did a bit about how 90s R&B is the best music ever where he played clips from a ton of different songs. It was great. I think he was workshoping it for a Netflix special.

I REALLY wanted to see John Pinette, but unfortunately he passed before I got the chance. Anyone ever see him live? I imagine that was an amazing time. He was one of my favorites and probably one of, if not the, funniest acts ever.

I want to see Dan Soder and Jay Oakerson since I like the Bonfire so much.

I was watching Bill Burr on Netflix (by far my favorite comedian but never seen him live) and I was wondering who are even better live.
Saw Andrew Schulz a while back, he was great. Interacts with the crowd, works it into his bits.
Hannibal Buress was fantastic as well.

He was underwhelming live. He relies on his crowd work, and if the crowd isn't giving him much and he has to rely upon his joke writing, he suffers a bit.
