Another source of information on the killing is several 911 calls placed while Arbery was in Satilla Shores, reporting his presence in the predominantly white neighborhood. One caller told dispatchers that there was someone looking around a property under construction; the Daily Beast reported that the owner showed surveillance footage to Arbery’s aunt, who identified her nephew, but that he was simply interested in the bones of the house.

Black dude running in a white neighborhood generating several 911 calls is pretty telling as well.

quote:

This whole thing is a reactionary joke.
Guy was a felon who had a gun charge. A 911 call was put in by another neighbor. The guy who ran him down was a retired 30 year investigator.

They are bending to public pressure, no conviction. They'll be released once people forget.

Forget what? You don't believe a crime was committed?

When was the shoplifting charge and the probation violation?

A 19-year-old at a High School basketball game with a gun? I can't tell if he had flunked a couple times and was still in Highschool or if hanging around children was his thing. I haven't been to anything high school related since I was 17.

And he cleaned up his act....also means that you believe someone who served in Law Enforcement for 30 years.... suddenly becomes a cold blooded murdering racist. How he hid his true tendencies w/o multiple murders for 30 years, We may never know!

Why shouldn’t it be a story?? It wouldn’t be if the victim was white and everyone knows this reasoning. Don’t be obtuse for fricks sake.

if the victim was white there wouldn't be a victim because those hillbillies wouldn't have stalked and shot him for jogging while black

Neighbors reported he regularly jogged through the neighborhood.

Yep.

quote:

“Everybody in the community knows he runs,” said Mr. Vaughn, who said he saw Mr. Arbery jogging on the streets a few months ago. Mr. Vaughn said that he himself had raised suspicions by jogging through his own neighborhood in the suburbs of Brunswick, recalling a recent instance in which a white woman followed him in a van.

quote:

He had no stolen property on his cold, dead person.

Yep. Also, the father & son never saw Arbery at the property that was under construction that Sunday morning. They saw Arbery pass by jogging on the road IN FRONT OF THEIR HOME. Apparently, the actual homeowner either showed the McMichael's the prior surveillance footage of someone on his property or there was a prior conversation between these parties about the description of person seen on the surveillance footage.

quote:

Gregory McMichael said he saw Arbery run by his front yard and alerted his son, according to the police report — he says they thought he resembled a suspect behind recent break-ins in the neighborhood. Both men then grabbed weapons and attempted to follow Arbery in their pickup truck. After a chase, the men pulled up beside Arbery and shouted at him to stop, McMichael claimed, and Travis McMichael got out of the vehicle with a shotgun.

LINK

With the real residential owner refusing to give up the surveillance footage, it makes me wonder if he went to Greg McMichael for help if someone had previously stolen items from his property being that McMichael is an ex cop. Could they all have possibly assumed the person on the prior video was Arbery & it ended up not being him at all? Which would explain why the property owner refuses to release the footage he has.

Pretty incredible how much public outcry actually works. Over two months of them having this video and nothing. The public gets ahold of it and arrests are made within days.

I agree with you but kinda feel like this is setting up that they are going to walk. If the authorities had the tapes and all the info it seems like they would have been arrested. Seems like the public is missing something. Maybe it was a big cover up because the guy used to be a cop but seems like something this big nobody would be crazy enough to try and hide with obvious video out there. Just all seems fishy.

I do not see boots. They look like low tops. As for cargo shorts, who knows. They just look like long shorts to me.

You can’t just shoot people like that

I don’t care what prior rap sheet the deceased had.

If he wasn’t in the act of committing a crime that is endangering your life... you can’t kill him...

fricked up

I could see this, but also why didn't that property owner make a police report for the stolen items? The only reported burglary in that area was a handgun stolen from a car parked outside the McMichael's house.

It’s tough to see. I just wouldn’t classify it as he was in ‘jogging gear’ but regardless, everyone will have their day in court.

most likely. But lets not act like if I was snooping around houses in an all black hood that i would live to tell about it.

Neither of this is right, and these guys deserve to be punished.

So how the frick did these ole baws hear about the construction site?

They didn't know shite. They just simply saw Arbery running on the road past their own house. Somehow they came up with Arbery fitting the description of burglary suspect. Greg McMichael said this himself in his statements give to the police. How this description made it around that neighborhood in the weeks prior to the shooting is a question within itself, that is going to be answered eventually.

You underestimate the bravado, ignorance, and preponderance of small-ish town law enforcement.

I honestly don't know but something about it doesn't smell right & this is something that has to come out down the road.

So because he thought he recognized him from a neighbor's surveillance footage, that gives him and his son the authority and responsibility to grab their guns and chase down a man, attempt a citizens arrest and end up shooting him?

The first DA did immediately recused himself.

quote:

Gregory McMichael served as an investigator for Glynn County District Attorney Jackie Johnson. He retired last year. The connection caused Johnson to recuse herself from the case.

But you're right about 2nd DA...I hope he loses his job over it or at least resigns.

Guy is in gym shorts and black tennis shoes. They may be curt style , which is a bit longer but he is def in exercise gear.

Read Bigbrog’s post. Straight facts. These guys are HOA Karen’s with guns. My neighbor think he looks like the guy on surveillance so let’s roll up with guns drawn and arrest him. Anyone want to bet 100$ that neighbor testifies to something a little different now ? “It might be him, looks like but not sure “. These idiots took off with guns drawn not in “hot pursuit “ but bc some said he looked like someone on surveillance.

Negative. I was just piecing together the information out there as to how the McMichael's ended up chasing Arbery in the first place because a previous poster apparently didn't know.
