Fat guys and big, bushy beards. Why?

I've noticed a trend of fat dudes growing out big ole beards. If they think it makes them look thinner, they're arse backwards. Or maybe it's just the natural tendency of fat people to be lazy and not bother with basic grooming. Did a memo go out to all the fatties that the modern fat guy look requires a beard? I just don't get it. If you're going to be fat, at least clean yourself up and not look like a total slob. At least people will see that you have control over other parts of your life other than your physical fitness.

I'm about 225lbs, but this fat guy trims his beard with a guard 1 time per week and shaves the beard jaw line down the neck with a razor 2 times / week.
None of that 3/4 of the way down the neck bullshite.
I don't hate on dudes who have the 6" long set pf pubes protruding from their face and all, but I at least try to look like I'm not a giant slob.
