You know how I know this isn't a car forum? We are three pages into a top speed discussion and no mention of speedometer vs GPS numbers. Plus no video = it never happened.

160 in Porsche Boxster on I-49

158 in TA pace car on a stretch of hwy b/w NI and Jeanerette. Definitely reckless. Needed both lanes due to drifting

My itches have been scratched. I no longer get the urge to speed

170 and 175 both closed courses
ETA: forgot about 165 (what the spedo read, I think it was off) down Florida Blvd on a crotch rocket. Very young and very stupid.

No need for video for the autobahn drivers. That's just kind of what you do on the autobahn.

135mph in a BMW 335 in I-94 north of Chicago during mid afternoon. It was dumb but fortunately nothing bad happened.

I drove a Ferrari 458 on a race track a couple years ago but only got it up to about 120. I still kick myself for driving that like a grandpa that day.

In a car about 105 in my 04 Caddy. Terrifying. Hit a small bump sent me way to high. Never did it again.

On a sports bike I got just over 150 a few times on 95 at night with no one on the road. Its thrilling to all hell but I'd never have the balls to do it again.

In reflection it was dumb.

`120 in a 4 cylinder Dodge Daytona. I almost died at the S curve in front of the Governors Mansion. Didn't know that was coming up. I was 17 years old and it was a hot summer night in 1992.

155 in a GRAND CHEROKEE? Are you mad?

I used to own one and only got it to like 105. And even at that speed felt like I was driving a cardboard box.

When I was a teenager I got my first car close to like 115 driving home from high school. The service roads parallel to the canal have no traffic lights for 2 miles at a time for the off ramps. And if you catch green lights and no traffic at 3pm coming home from school it essentially is a 10 mile straight away. Sonos get off the first exit of the highway to get on the service road. And then gun it. Once I got it that high one day like another poster said the floating feeling is really scary. You hit a mold undulation in the road and you can feel the car start to lift and float a bit and you just feel less stable and less connected with the ground.

Since then I’ve hit 133. My parents live in Birmingham and I can make the drive from Birmingham to New Orleans in 4 hours. The stretch of Road from the AL/MS state line to Slidell is boring, well paved, and has no police presence at all.

1990 RX7 got up to 136 on a country back road in AL. Had a long, flat, straight section and pegged it out.

Have got close to 130 in my infiniti Q50 3.6, had to let off the gas, it will go 156 per manufacturer specs. It is a fast auto.

120 in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma

If you've ever traveled from Fayetteville to Ft. Smith via I49 you know there are multiple downhill opportunities to do so.

It wasn’t a standard American Spec GC. The German spec cars have different engines and suspensions. It actually rode pretty damn smooth. I think it was a 99 or 2000 model.

Also, the German Autobahn is flat, smooth and wide open. It’s made to haul arse. I’ve gone 110-115 on it and been passed by cars like I wasn’t moving.
