This vertical bullshite is one of the biggest reasons the F35 has been a boondoggle (and why an "all in one" plane was so idiotic)

Don't know but ejecting from that height can't be good.

The B variant was to replace the harrier. You do get that amphibious assault ships can't launch other planes than those two.

Something happened to make it nosedive while on the ground. Pilot ejected from on the ground which hopefully the parachute had enough time to slow him down. Looked like a hard landing

Let the debate begin. Pilot or plane error here?

Why did he eject? He landed. Pull the fire suppression.
The air frame is still salvageable too.
I bet this pilot will be right seat in a transport after this.
Isn't there a emergency master switch on that thing.

I get it man. I took a training course as a kid and it’s really tough to land those MFers.

He’s a tard and many others who have no military or aviation background will tell everyone how it’s bad.

I wonder what that little incident cost?
Posted on 12/15/22 at 3:26 pm to LSUGent
One thing that's not debatable - that plane cost about $80 million bucks.

Looks like it did not throttle down fast enough on touch down and even after the front collapsed. At least it looks salvageable and not a 999999 billion dollar write off.
And glad the pilot survived as well!

I’ll have intel from LM in a couple of hours

I thought it was considerably more than that per unit

I never realized we had so many F35 pilots on TD. Always good to see.

Seems like he didn't need to eject.

My thought, too. Maybe he thought it was gonna blow up?

If the plane wasn't responding to controls properly wtf would it do next?
