I've applied for plenty of jobs I'm overqualified for. It's bad for your physical and mental discipline to sit for 4 months. I just want to go back to work full time.

I’m okay with a $400/week “return to work” bonus for 8 weeks, but I’d really like to see a payroll tax holiday until the end of the year and a stepped reduction in the unemployment boost.
We should withhold Covid cost reimbursement for states until at least 85% of their public schools are reopened. Some states are trying to use this as a way to get federal tax dollars to cover their pension shortfalls. Kind of fricked up.

hey dude I know that but it's just a model that might be good on bigger scale. if I'm trump I do that model because soys will like it and vote for me because they get to stay home and collect the airdrop $$

When they returned to work in May, upper management saw who was obviously needed an who wasn't and they were all laid off permanently with a generous severance. These are long time employees, +20 yrs, two 30 yrs with the same company, and none retirement age.

I think this is a very fair point. And part time work definitely isn't the full solution, but there are things people can do to make money while they're trying to get back on their feet.
For example, how many people here who have unfortunately been furloughed or laid off due to COVID have registered to work at their local polling place? It's not much money and it's temporary, but it is an honest buck. Hell, I'm considering doing it just because.

You can work part time and potentially still get some UI. In fact it could maximize you're weekly earnings.
However, there are plenty of people willing to ride this thing out as long as possible. Have no sympathy for them.
Some of these people haven't worked in years and found they could qualify through the PUA program.

I took a part time job last week. I'm only working about 15 hours a week, so I'm still getting UI.

Which takes me back to the post I made initially. We have numerous industries that would be required to remain open, therefore it would be impossible to have a full lockdown.
The virus could still be carried and spread by the hundreds of thousands of people that work in grocery stores, hospitals, schools/charity organizations (required by law to feed children), etc.
So we would have the same shutdown we had in March/April, which did nothing because cases increased once we opened back up.

It' may become a necessity as people become conditioned to freebies.
Long term UI and Welfare should be tied to training and/or education. I know sever European countries do this.

Shutting down to prevent the spread of a highly transmittable virus with no vaccine was never going to be any kind of solution
