Agree. While I have no issue with the federal money, I do not think it should go to people who are being offered their jobs back.

I haven’t put in 100’s of applications, but I’ve definitely applied for things I’m prob over qualified for only to be told similar things by potential employers.
Lot of places just hiring part time or temporary, too.
Craigslist job listings this morning Is one of the few places I look, on a Monday, had like 13 posts about openings lol. On a normal Monday there would be 100+

Also got a ton of people refuse to hire me because they felt as soon as the oilfield comes back I would leave and go back. Is that a possibility? Sure. That’s a bit anecdotal and there’s still not a realistic possibility. You can’t sustain an economy on part time grocery store work with people with families and bills and to imply it’s out of laziness or elitism bc the job would be beneath them just because you saw a couple now hiring signs on your morning commute . That’s just ridiculous.
7.25 an hour isn’t going to do anything for a family with 3 kids, mortgage and a couple cars. And in normal circumstances maybe you could chalk that up to personal responsibility, but I think we can all agree this is not normal circumstances.
If the govt is the reason businesses are having to shutter down and eliminating opportunities for these people, and cutting off the supply for the demand of jobs necessary- then they should be the ones trying to replace that supply of income in some way (short term of course, obviously not sustainable long term).

Thank. Appreciate it! I’m just fortunate to have been in the financial position that I am today. But honestly, I’m the dumbass for taking a new position at the begging of the new year. Passed on job offers from Whiting Turner and Barton Malow to go client side, because at the time it was the safest position since it was doing utility construction for the parks. Not just new work but renovating all existing on a 5 year timeline.

It's a tough situation. The government literally shut down multiple industries, which directly affected people; however, we're paying so much people are turning down jobs. It's unsustainable, and a compromise has to be made.

True shite you just posted...... where I used to work they are having trouble finding people to work.... and it’s all because the ones that could are sitting on their arse basically refusing to work.... but when those benefits stop coming in they will be lining the streets begging for any work they can find.

I’ve spoken with a good many people since being furloughed. Mainly just “get to know you” talks but still something. One of the executives with KMI was very honest with me which I appreciate. Many are just feeling the market with their openings you see online. Bigger companies are trying to see the level of experience out their looking and figure that into their budgets for 2021 and after. It could be that they can get higher talent cheaper, or potentially they should adjust their budgets to have to pay higher. But many job openings, at least here in Central all, are more feeling the market.

Good. Too many of people still collecting have had an opportunity to go back to work but have declined bc they like the free money.

I could understand it also pins you down somewhat with respect to looking for something long term and better. A job search is a full time job at least part of the time.
