The max I'm aware of is Washington State where you can hit about $5,400 a month. Not sure if the have dependent allowance on top of that or not.

But you have to prepare for the possibility that a lot of people have legitimately loss jobs and the state governments and federal governments will continue to retard economic growth due to this phased lockdown policy in place.

I suspect September gets ugly as the transition is in full mode. You can chose to live the fantasy or you can look at some reality based on real world observation.

1. The Federal Government does not care about debt

2. The state and federal government(s)do not know how to decouple from this spiral.

3. Despite what you want to think, the employment picture won't miraculously get rosy....there has been real damage done.

4. No one knows what to do, continuing this back and forth on lockdowns right now is the only card that can be played by government.....they poisoned the well for business and now Karen is doing all her buying through Amazon, mostly

5. School Boards are screwed right now. While they want to open up, they find themselves at the mercy of the unions and press who are using safety as a bargaining chip for a whole lotta of money....if kids are out of school and both parents work, one parent will not be able to go back ..... if there is his/her old job left.

We are not in some sort of stasis like a sci-fi movie wherein we wake up , take a little while to get used to the office and we just continue where we left off.

I've taken advantage of the time available to me to update some certifications and get a little more education, but it's demoralizing to sit in front of the computer for hours a day and send your resume in to places that you know aren't even going to look at it.

What congress and the president do over the next couple of weeks is going to decide who wins the election in November, but I don't think further or scaled down unemployment benefits are going to do any good for the country. I think it'll just mitigate some bad.

I think job searchers are fricked for a few more months.

This has been an entertaining thread, partly because of your anecdotal evidence and melt down so for the people clamoring to go get a job while still collecting unemployment, how many hours can you work and still collect?

ETA or how much money can you make and still collect?

So these people expect someone to go out and work a job for $275 a week when actually looking for and applying for jobs is a full time job itself? Yeah if I was laid off i wouldn’t get one of those for shite.

The number is 17mm, not 30mm+...issue is real...we will see big issues in states not opening

Our layoffs started in Mid March, but our written agreement didn't go into effect until April 1st. We had one guy that started about a month before the shutdown that was a total prick. My boss was literally going to fire him the week that he got laid off.

Our detailer(I work for a dealership) refused to come back a couple of months ago and even had the nerve to tell my boss that he wasn't coming back because he was making more $ drawing unemployment and detailing cars under the table on the side.

Then a salesman and a mechanic come back and have been pretty much pouting every day that they've been here. Forget showing any appreciation for the people that covered their jobs for them while they were safe at home, drawing those checks.

It's people like them that make me pretty bitter about all of this.
