It needs to. The economy will crash if nobody wants to work. It’s also not fair to those who are working if some get more money to sit and watch Netflix

I have no idea why there is anyone in this country that has been working fast food right now.

You can make a lot more sitting and doing nothing. In some states a lot more.

Here they are so overwhelmed they wont be even looking at the stuff to find cases of fraud or trying to match up reported incomes vs. real incomes.

I wont lie I would have walked off the job at McDonalds in March and been taking that money if that was my life.

The assholes decided this was fine.

Just basing off of average numbers, a married couple both unemployed has been receiving $7,824 a month in benefits.

Hopefully those people were putting as much of it aside as they can, but I kinda doubt that.

In Washington you can get up to $790 per week in unemployment

$790 + $600 = $1390 per week

Two people = $2780 per week for two

One month = $11,120 a month

less than $8k a month, we’d have to file for bankruptcy if it went on too long

Have you been shopping lately? Those people are buying anything and everything possible. I was trying to find My kids a small pool to play in... went to Walmart and the shelves were literally 100% empty. These people are probably making more now than they’ve ever made.

Stealth's Conspiracy Theory:

The government is using this pandemic as a test run for Universal Basic Income. The majority of the population will support it now that they've become comfortable with receiving government money, and will voice their displeasure once COVID unemployment payments have ceased.

If a couple can’t live off 3500 a month then that’s their problem....... I’m more worried about the people in LA. That get at most what is it $238?? That’s the top number and they have been saying “ hell yeah” we get a bunch of extra money for all these months, now let’s go spend it....... those are the people I’m worried about.

met a young baw this past weekend 22 yrs old, lives in a trailer with his GF and their 6 month old son.
Normally works at different oilfield jobs. But, is all good sitting at home collecting the $600 instead of going to work and earning twice that.

he says " I aint even ashamed about it".

Yep. I’ve had a couple tell me “they’re enjoying the vacation”. No desire to even look for a job.

Average is 378 a week without the extra $600. So that’s 978 times 2 is 1956 a week, times 4 weeks is $7,824 a month.
