The bums who have jobs that want to call them back will finally go back. The people who had good paying jobs that were laid off now can’t find any kind of work and will have their financial lives ruined because of politicians and panic. Expect a deeper recession from 15-20 millions Americans with no income and no spending in the economy.

Also, your numbers are way off.

No doubt. Being a dependable, hard working employee is so stupid. If you want to be rewarded, it's always best to be an undependable frick up. That's the lesson from all of this.

Why reward people who haven't lost their jobs?

For keeping this country rolling while the rest of the work force enjoyed their 4 month paid vacation. That's why.

Well said.

I’m all for cutting off folks who are being asked to return to work. But anyone who thinks cutting the federal unemployment benefits will suddenly put everyone back to work is delusional. Hell, at this point I’m not even sure a full, unrestricted reopening would put everyone back to work. I hope I’m wrong.

The thing people fail to realize is that many steady jobs over the past few months have been indirectly subsidized by the unemployment benefits. That’s the entire point - get people to continue spending money to stop the economic bleeding. If everyone stuck that $600/week in a savings account, the program would be a total failure.

Would anyone here really want to lose a good paying job to have a few months off where they're not making what they used to? And now the job that they had is gone and the only thing available is a low paying job that won't cover their bills, not to mention what being unemployed does to your self confidence and self worth. If you were able to keep your same job I would personally be thankful.

It is a total failure

All you had to do was not shut anything down

There I solved the entire problem just like that

I donated mine to social justice.

I'm far more woke than you are. You should feel privileged to even be in my presence.

I guess you missed the post where I said that I'm mostly referring to coworkers, not every single person on unemployment. But keep nitpicking.

In theory, it's easy to feel that way. In practice, when your coworkers start coming back to work and are clearly unhappy that their 4 month paid vacation wasn't long enough. Meanwhile, yourself and other coworkers have been working the entire 4 months and... you want to punch them in the face. Or at least I do.

which ones? Again 378 is the average without the $600. So that’s 978 times 2 people, that’s $1956 times 4. 7,824 a month.
