First study would put a rat in a basic cage with a regular water bottle and one laced with heroin. The rat would go to the one with heroin all the time.

The second study was the same thing but instead of an empty cage it was a rat paradise with all kinds of stuff for the rat to do. The rat chose to drink the regular water over the heroin laced.
Not analogous to humans, sport.

Some human rats do not care if their cage is full of toys.

And some human rats in an otherwise empty cage will pick the water over the heroin.

Where does drug legalization stop? Are we supposed to be able to walk into a pharmacy and order whatever we choose for our ailments? If recreational drugs were legal but pharma was restricted you’d still have the same black market we have today for pharma so there is a hole in your legalization argument

Deaths from alcohol are usually a byproduct of using it. To make alcohol illegal because having and using it kills people is equivalent to saying we cannot have or possess guns because guns kill people. No, idiots with guns or alcohol kill people.

How many junkies on the street do you think put in a solid 40 hour work week to pay for their habit?

I know a lot of active cocaine and acid users working a hell of a lot more than 40 hours a week.

It’s a way to arrest people who should be behind bars.

I mean do you want this creep walking around your neighborhood???

Drugs create addicts. Addicts steal and commit crimes to get money and more drugs. Making drugs illegal results in fewer people using drugs, and fewer addicts who commit crimes.

But has it really?

In today's world, if you have to ask that question, you're lost.

Depends on who's being targeted and who it's being marketed to.

Look at San Francisco.

Legalization of all drugs is how you get shite on the streets and side walks.

By boosting shite from Home Depot and selling it? Addicts rarely have decent jobs. I'm a libertarian leaning conservative myself, but I also don't want to see every city in America looking like L.A., Portland, and Seattle with crack zombies shuffling around like the walking dead.

Prostitution should be legal. As for the act itself, I see nothing wrong with, but it's the adjacent conditions that are bad for society: breakdown of marriages, disease spreading, etc. But just because something affects cultural norms negatively, does not mean it should be legal. I don't see how it could stand up to a real constitutional test.
Anyway, women have been having sex with men for money for centuries, it just takes different forms, like a gold diggin whore.

Well, the answer is that people will destroy themselves if they are allowed unlimited license. Not everyone, but enough that society would become untenable, and we would be conquered by others. So to protect and maintain our civilization we must have limits to personal freedom when it comes to morals.

We will see if that is true, because we are certainly experimenting in that direction. In each civilization, in which laxity has prevailed, the society died out - Athens for example.

That's between people and their religion or personal moral code.

Laws shouldn't be created around that. At least in my opinion.

An argument can be made that drugs and prostitution causes a bigger social problem being illegal than it would if it was legal.

Meth is death..

If it is a prescription drug, they shouldn't be allowed to advertise to the consumer. The docs should know what you need better than you.

Certain shite should be illegal.

I'll never understand how something can be illegal to sell that is perfectly legal to give away for free.

Or legal to give away for other things, in many ways.

When Opium was legal in China. France, Britain, Germany, Russia and Japan walked all over one of the largest populations in the world. Production and technological advancement in their civilization stalled completely. Commies put a stop to the rampant drug use.

India, one of the most advanced civilizations at a time, stopped advancing and it’s 1 billion people literally become lethargic and totally subjugated by the British because of the widespread use of cannabis and it byproducts. In 1985 they enacted strict drug laws, hoping to help change their third world status.

Asians as a whole are considered some of the most intelligent people on the planet and look what drugs did to their countries.
