quote:You’re not remembering that right. Even if she had thrown boiling water, it still wouldn’t have posed a serious threat. When you throw water from a pot, it breaks into droplets, disperses, and cools almost instantly. By the time that mist reaches someone fifteen feet away, it’s closer to warm bath water than a scalding mass.
If I remember right, didn’t the woman actually try to sort of throw the boiling water at him? I remember you could see the water on the floor in the video.
So even if events happened as you recall and he fired after she threw it, he’d have already realized he wasn’t in serious pain before deciding to shoot her in the face. That’s reinforced by the fact that he never sought medical treatment or even claimed to have burns.
If the goal is officer safety, sane tools are distance, cover, and clear commands. He chose gunfire. He chose poorly.

This one is bad but Daniel Shaver is still the worst for me (shot playing a deadly game of Simon Sez in a hotel hallway in Mesa). The cop was acquitted on murder two and while fired they retroactively medically retired him (at 25) with a pension.
That was difficult to watch. The guy was crying, on his knees, wearing a pair of gym shorts, when the officer shot him with his AR.

Correct. Most could barely get out of high school. Actually. Out of every ten police officers I know probably one has a brain.

The fact that you think that police had anything to do with Floyd's death is a detriment to the rest of your post. There's even an autopsy report for Floyd's death.

I agree. Which is why I literally said this:

I also remember this dude escalating this super fast and handling this is pretty much the worst way possible for everyone involved. So I’m good with him being charged for killing her.

There are 2, you should read them.
They both rule homicide, with restraint being the main factor lol.
They even made the initial coroner clarify his findings in court.
Guilty or not the cop was a fricking moron with a complex, and put himself in that position. You're insane if you can't rationalize that two people can both be wrong, and complete idiots in a situation.

I can’t even figure out why they pulled their guns.

Floyd was bad?
Yeah, fentanyl will kill you pretty quick and easy if you eat a lot of it.
Maybe he should've gotten in the car and not argue for 30 minutes??

That's fricking horrific

The guy who runs the drug sniffing dogs in a parish here was kicked out of HS at 21 years old, so he got a GED and became a cop. He was kicked out of one small town police force for being racist so he just went to become a sheriff deputy, and he's now responsible for sniffing out drugs. He's a racist idiot and could make or break someone's whole life.

This incident reminds me of a cop in Arizona shooting and killing a man that was on his hands and knees, while complying with commands given by the officer. That cop just wanted to kill somebody.

I just watched the Daniel Shaver and read the story. The cops where called b/c the hotel reported someone pointing a gun out the hotel window based on a call they got from an outside witness. When cops got there they had to assume Shaver had the gun. Initially, he wouldn't come out of the room. When he did, he repeatedly disobeyed commands , possibly b/c he was intoxicated but he disobeyed commands none the less. As he got close to the police in his crawl, for some inexplicable reason he reaches behind him and they fired. He was told repeatedly not to make any such move. They had no way to know if he was reaching for the gun they were called about. But who the hell points a gun out of a hotel window? That's why the cop was acquitted.

Wasn’t it the case that some officers were screaming at him not to move while other officers were simultaneously screaming at him to put his hands behind his back?

Is there a thread or link??

I am not going to even bother because anyone who has seen the video knows that is a load of horsehit. The cop wanted to kill someone that night and set up a situation where it was impossible for the average person to comply without giving him the furtive movement he was dreaming about.

Not even in the same category. His interaction with the police was provoked by him.
If I recall, that lady, at worse, seemed as if there might have been some mental issue going on with her and even then.. If I recall, she realized she had water boiling and I think even said she was going to turn of the stove. And if I recall, she was a small woman and I am not even sure she could have hit him with most of the water if she tried, based on where he was standing.
Wasn't she the one who called the police? That's the problem you have with some of these smaller towns or counties. They don't have enough funds to hire qualtiy police so they often get the wanna be police types, guys who can't get jobs anywhere else, etc.
