He was falsifying the tickets up to hours after the initial stop so he could get overtime. It wasn't just a speed trap. He blatantly falsified tickets over 70 times.
State troopers in this state are allowed to do things regular citizens or even other cops aren't allowed to do. Most I have ever met were cocky assholes.

I’m sure he’s right and his story is legit, but frick him dead in his crooked arse. Slimy fricker had no problem with it while he had a badge, now he wants to complain?
Dudes a crook and a count. He needs to get prison time for being a bitch, not just a dirty cop.
Preach. He's pissed that he got caught and no one else did. I guarantee you he'd still be doing it if he didn't get caught. I hope he rots in hell.

Yes, I have a problem with it. Especially since I’m gonna have to pay Lafayette Parish money for my ticket . But this is nothing new. It’s not unique to this state or LSP. On the other hand, if I wasn’t speeding, I wouldn’t have gotten the ticket.
You are out of your mind taking the side of LSP here. By the way, I'm a living example of this bullshite. I got a ticket for 91 in a 70 in St John Parish/Laplace. I knew I was only going 75 max. Trooper wouldn't hear it. Except I have a dash cam with GPS. Reviewed the footage and I was actually going 70. Not even 1mph over. Had to take off of work on two separate days to get this bullshite thrown out.

That's what they bank on. You lose more money by having to take off work to fight then the ticket costs. LSP are some arrogant crooked SOBs. They set up on my way to work between where it goes from 65 to 55. Wrote me a ticket last year for 60 in a 55 and I was stopped literally 50 yards BEFORE the 55 mph sign. frick them. Wasn't one of the top guys busted a while back living in a house payed for by the department or some shite?

While I have little sympathy for law breakers (myself included; if I get a speeding ticket, I own up to it), I think there needs to be a way for people to work off minor moving violations if they can't afford to pay. Eight hours of community service should suffice. If someone bitches about that, I have zero sympathy for them; throw the book at that point.

I drove through a small town in north la few weeks ago and I shite you not..... I counted 5 state troopers.
5.
This was a town of 2 redlights.
The reason I noticed is that 2 or the 5 had someone pulled over in a parking lot.
2 SUV’s
1 crown Vic
And 2 motorcycle troopers.
I just thought to myself wow ... what a waste of tax payer money and low life money grab on a poor community.
Seatbelts
Window tint
Ins
Low hanging fruit to fill a quota.

Just another reason we need self driving cars

And that’s where you find random speed traps just to keep their little departments afloat.
Yes, these little towns would be so much better off if these little departments would just shut down and leave them at the mercy of the Sheriff or State Police offices.
What is sad is that "speed traps" are needed to keep these little departments afloat.

If you want to learn about why police target speeders, when you see an officer on the side of the road using radar, stand 1/2 mile up the street with a sign saying “Drive the speed limit for our safety” and see how long that lasts.
People argue about the usefulness of speeding tickets but other offenses are harder to defend. “Improper lane usage,” “failure to signal,” “distracted driving,” etc are entirely up to the discretion of the law enforcement officer and almost impossible to defend against. Police can either intentionally make up the criteria for these violations or are truly ignorant of the criteria. The problem is that the policeman will tell you that the side of the road is not the place to discuss the fine points of the law and that will happen in court. Of course, the LEO is counting on you not showing up to contest the ticket.
Don’t argue on the side of the road but try to record the interaction so the officer can not change his/her story later. Arguing will tip your hand on what you will say in court. Try to say as little as possible to the officer and do not feel forced to answer questions that would implicate you in other offenses like whether the address on your license is correct or do you have something illegal in the car.
If you break the law, prepare to face the consequences but if you feel wrongfully accused of an offense, it’s your right to have your day in court and confront your accuser.
**I’m not a lawyer so the names of offenses earlier in the post are general. Each state is different so the best defense is to be informed and follow the laws while driving.

Is it news to anyone that LSP is dirty?

How Edmonton isn’t in jail is shocking, we have a two tiered justice system and need to elect an AG and governor who will do something about it

Sounds like to me he was falsifying the time that he wrote the tickets to show that he was writing them during overtime hours. That way he got the extra money from the LACE program.
Seems to me he is the guilty party and simply trying to shift the focus from himself, where it belongs.

Question, were these tickets for real offenses?
If so then what's the issue?
The LACE program only works if you write enough tickets to cover the OT hours you're going to charge the local city court. It's a quota. Surely you can understand why speeding ticket quotas are a bad thing, no?

They all do that. The DAs know they do that but as long as they're profitable they don't care. It's an awful scam, and the vast majority are guilty and complicit.

Georgia just started a no cell phone law. The phone can’t be touching any part of your body when in the car.

If your town LEOs can't survive without speed traps, you've got major problems. The solution to those problems shouldn't be revenue streams from out of town travelers.
The city of Jeanerette is currently being run by the state because of their rampant malfeasance, but their city marshal office is about 6 officers deep and they've all got brand new equipment and vehicles on the backs of a 2 mile stretch of Hwy 90.

You didn't know ticket writing was a revenue generator?
