So either I was taught differently, or I've just always subconsciously done it differently, because I've always gone "clockwise" with my loop. Maybe it's because I'm a lefty? Someone should study that shite and see if there's a difference in how people tie their shoes based on their handedness.

Had no idea that made a difference, but my shoes still come untied sometimes.

Everyone has also been installing batt insulation backwards for centuries too.
Paper should face outside. It’s the vapor barrier.

Uh, you talk a big game, but apparently have no idea how Kraft paper works.

Yes, and the average humidity in your home is around 60% in the summer and 40% in the winter. You want to protect the batt insulation from getting wet and mold/mildew building up on it during the winter…
if water (or even vapor) is getting in from the exterior of the house through the siding, housewrap and sheathing, you have a bigger problem than the direction of the Kraft paper

Tried this way this morning and my feet are losing circulation. They’re used to loosening up.

Tying shoes wrong is not a personality. It’s a basic misunderstanding of how to tie a knot.

I’ve found making two loops and then crossing them similar to the first criss cross lasts all day

If your shoes keep coming untied, and since everyone ties the knot a little differently (left/right handed), another simple way to accomplish this is to reverse the first half hitch.

In other words, if you start by going left-over-right, try going right-over-left first instead, then tie the rest as normal.

Basically you're just trying to keep the half hitch and the bow from going in the same direction — they should be opposite of each other.

Not to mention the manufacturers of bat insulation put fold out tabs in the paper to staple to the stud (from the inside of course).

Yeah, I have been doing this subconsciously for my entire shoe tying life.

Think I've always done it this way. I don't really think about it, but my shoes don't come untied.

Read about this a few years ago. I believe it's the same way people have traditionally tied a bowtie. Started doing that the same way since then. No more bulky double knots.
