Not only are you absolutely full of shite, you're a smug piece of shite to go along with it.

Your analogy is laughable. There is no finite set of holes, and there won't be until this virus runs its course through the population. You can't plug what can't be plugged.

Here's where your analogy falls apart. It's not people "being inconvenienced" by the lockdown on bars, restaurants, etc. It's family businesses. Livelihoods. Nest eggs and retirements being destroyed overnight. All so you can "feel safe" as you play God with your pseudoscience.

I’ve said this many times. A mask will work if it meets 4 conditions. The mask must be designed to protect from a specific hazard class (a virus). The mask must fit properly and be worn correctly. And the mask must be kept clean.

The masks people are wearing do not meet condition 1.
Roughly half the people don’t wear them correctly.
I can almost guarantee the Walmart masses are not washing their mask.

It's not an inconvenience. Suicide rates are through the roof. Deaths from other causes are up because hospitals have gone full retard and are behind on treating other issues. Economies and livelihoods are being destroyed. Mental illness and depression have grown exponentially. All of these measures are causing problems that we won't shake for decades. They are MUCH worse than the virus that has a >97% survival rate for the elderly and a >99% survival rate for everyone else.

90% of people are wearing masks as required

CDC says if 80% of people wear masks, virus will be contained.

Danish study shows infection among mask wearers and non wearers statistically insignificant

Most people who have caught COVID claim to be mask wearers.

So, from this, we are doing more than the CDC suggested and cases are still rising.

JoJo speaks the truth here.

Sure, there are scenarios where masks work. So I guess officials can keep claiming they work. In a perfect environment perfectly worn with the correct mask it does work.

That's just nearly no body's actual reality. Soooo. They don't work.

Facts aren't important to certain people, feelings are. You step on their "religion" and they go nuts.

Progressivism is a cult.

They do work but you can catch it from not washing/sanitizing your hands. Pushing a cart, pumping gas, opening a door etc etc. Of course you can still catch it from someone in your house who does not wash their hands.
A friend of ours went to their parents house for Thanksgiving. His dad had Covid but no one knew at the time. Our friends wife wore a mask the whole time. No one else did. Everyone else got Covid except for her. But go ahead and believe masks don't work.

OK, so what the hell do you want? People need to socialize with those they like and/or love. It prevents psychological damage that, at scale, is a very dangerous thing.

The question was about whether masks work because everyone seems to be wearing them in public yet numbers were going up. I just provided a possible explanation but never said you shouldn't see loved ones. Not saying you should wear a mask at home but most people will tell you they don't wear a mask around family or with people they are familiar with.

Yep, just like I thought, you missed the whole point. Thanks for confirming....lol! As far as being smug goes, had you presented an intelligent argument for why you disagreed with my original statements, I would agree that my follow up was "smug". But when your entire rebuttal consists of, "You are absolutely full of shite.", you can't fault me for being smug. But again, a concept that's probably way over your head.

I think “wear the mask!” is a convenient way to draw a pretend line between the right and left. Creating division is so easy and people are so dumb. You can turn ANYTHING into a political argument

no way in HELL is this accurate.

Number could be a bit high, but based on my observations compliance is very high in the Bham area. And has been for a long time. Still, the needle hasn't been moved at all and we are doing no better (and maybe worse) than areas with no mask mandate and/or little mask use.

At the beginning of this I thought mask use (even though I hated it) would be a big difference maker. Anyone paying attention can see that it hasn't worked out that way. At least on a macro basis, the OP is correct: Masks don't work. The question I now have is whether they are actually making things worse by, among other things, giving people a false sense of security.

Well why don't you lay it out for us then? Because I think my assessment of your asinine analogy is spot-on.

I don't necessarily think it's between right or left. It's between people who do everything government says without question, and those who initially followed government guidance...and then began to question said guidance when it began to constantly change, contradict itself, have zero logic behind it, and multiple politicians being caught ignoring their own guidance and mandates.

Some people take what is told to them by the media at face value without question, and if you question what the media puts out, you are attacked by these same people.

Other people take the attitude of "I'll begin to treat this as a crisis when the people telling me it's a crisis start acting like it's one."

The sad part is one day we really are going to have some sort of virus or crisis that's very real and very serious, and people are going to die because of this boy cried wolf bullshite coming from the media and politicans.

I've read enough of your posts to know that you are smart enough to know that what people "claim" and what they actually do is often two different things. They get sick and to avoid embarrassment (or maybe blame if grandma died) they claim they were wearing a mask. It's just human nature. But wearing a mask by itself isn't a guarantee. All parties have to be masked to achieve an effective result. And it should be coupled with social distancing and hand washing.

Look, I've seen hospitals with outrageously high staph infection rates that turned the trend around almost overnight by imposing a mandatory rigorous hand washing policy for employees. I know this is viral and not bacterial but the concept is the same. Prevention measures most often help.

Correct. It’s not really between right and left but it is being manipulated in a way to make it right vs left
