This interactive simulator will show you what happens. You can choose the location, size (up to 1 sq. mile), speed, and even angle of impact.

I don’t even live in Louisiana and that was the first one I tried. Hit it with the largest iron asteroid going at top speed straight down hit. Took out most of the country west of the central plains.

I have seen a gigantic crater caused when an asteroid hit the earth. It is along the Romantic Road near Munich Germany.

Pretty cool, but I wish it could give more comprehensive analysis in some scenarios. For example, I dropped it in the middle of Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee, thinking the resulting tidal waves would be enough to wipe out both cities, but it didn't give any info on that. It's definitely geared toward a land mass strike.

Yeah. I made the same discovery when I dropped mile wide gold asteroid a few hundred miles off the coast of California. Wish it could factor in tidal waves.

I just dropped a mile wide asteroid on Shanghai, China. The results were mind boggling. The fireball alone would stretch from the middle of China to south of Taiwan and even engulf most of South Korea. Most buildings in the eastern half of China and as far away as the southern Philippines and North Japan would be flattened by the pressure. Winds would take out trees & buildings as far away as Mongolia, Burma and Cambodia. And the initial death toll would be over 723 million.

I honestly don’t know. I never go to the food board. I can’t remember the last time I would have even been on the food board. Did it get moved here by mistake? It started on the OT Lounge. I’ve requested it be moved.

Ok. It’s fixed now. No idea how it got over to the food board. Only thing I can guess is after I searched to make sure it had not already been posted, I may have accidentally tapped the Food Board button. Though I don’t see how that could happen since it’s not on my favorites list. The only other thing I can think is it was accidentally moved over there by an admin.

Either way, it’s fixed now.

If an asteroid hit the ocean at jussssst the right angle, could it in theory hit a few cities? Like maybe DC and tumble or skip all the way to NYC?

I dropped one on the white house. 60 mile wide crater 1,900 ft deep. 200,000 people vaporized.
