And many, many people certainly didn't. Leaving unpaid bills for the company to cover.

It was definitely a loophole, it was just either disregarded or missed.

If you didn't lose any business due to the shutdown, it was just a paper adjustment to stay in conformity with the rules. Loopholes aren't illegal, if that's how you're taking it or what the other poster is implying.

Get out of this thread. You are a horrible poster. Give me back LSUPride please, at least we were having an adult conversation. Go play your video games now and run along.

When you follow a law exactly as it’s written, and the law is clearly written, I’m not sure how it’s a “loophole”

The bigger problem with the first round was how the banks processed applications. I know of two people who applied with a large bank who drug their feet on their application, and by the time they got to their application, there were no more funds available. I have n doubt there were some shenanigans going on behind the scenes with some banks on how they prioritized applications.

My firm was contracted out to process some of their PPP loans. The bank had their people working 12 hours a day and out contracted out people were working 7p-7a 7 days a week. It was crazy, these are people with professional degrees and licenses being made to work overnight and on weekends.

In that context, loopholes don't exist within the law. I don't agree with that.

The intent of the fund was to protect jobs and income. If it was simply a windfall that allowed a company to use money meant for payroll and expenses for other things, I'd consider it a legal loophole.

Yeah, I know some banks moved heaven and earth to get their applications through and funded. Some sat on their hands. Unfortunately the two people I referenced went with a bank that sat on their hands, then blamed it on SBA.

You'd have been a retard to not take free money. Blame the government (and remember this was a trump policy for consistency's sake) for giving it to them.
If you do have to pay any of it back, the interest rate is 1%.

They sat on their hands or they didn't have the manpower or resources to get to all of their applications processed? I don't have the specifics, but there's no way contracting out my firm was a money maker for that bank. And it wasn't a money maker for our firm either, but it was a better alternative than a sizeable number of employees bringing in zero revenue.

Of all the stupid she we throw money at, I'm actually not completely against lending money to small businesses. Especially once facing economic sanctions by shitty politicians.

What is shameful, is the fact that prior to the pandemic small businesses employed 48% of American workers....

They didn't get anywhere CLOSE to 48% of the Govt money doled out.

My company was listed last time I looked and we did not receive any funds.
Happened to me as well. Reported as fraud and they tracked it to overseas I think.

The list of who DIDN'T get a 'loan' would have been much shorter.
