Hell, my first 3 or 4 cars had no working A/C and I was living in N.O. at the time.
Hell, I didn't have A/C in any house I lived in until my now ex got pregnant in 77 for our son. Once I got it, I got spoiled and have had A/C ever since.

Dude. Try a couple cans of the Freon with sealant. $60 bought me another summer one year.
We did this last summer and it brought some relief, but only held for about a month. Seems there’s a leak somewhere.
I may do it again, soon. It could get me through July, at least.

1994 Chevy Silverado. Bought used and A/C worked for only the first few months of ownership. Went through 3 compressors in 120,000 miles. It was rough, but I got used to riding with the windows down. Sold it due to alot of little quirky things going on with it. But, wish I hadn't, because I don't think I'll ever be able to buy another truck like it with the way prices are now. (The original purchase price was right under $20,000.)

All of us with kids should print this thread when the kids whine about their Starbucks or Roblox refills. I'm proud to be around the struggle

Mid 40s. Didnt have a car with AC until 2008. Let me tell you, it was a game changer.

Just say Piggly Wiggly, and I know I don't belong.

I heard Scotty Kilmer say Honda’s ac goes out quicker because they don’t have good seals and of course he said Toyotas have better seals lol.
I must have the miracle Honda van that breaks all the rules, 2012, over 225k miles, still ice cold air. I just changed the Alternator. That when it was down, made for some interesting white knuckle driving with no alternator power or air conditioning to make it home.

There was actually no A/C in the car, it was just a fan. I had to start that bastard with carb fluid in the last year and a half. Surprisingly, as long as I drove fast, it wasn't bad, heat wise.
I did have a friend drive down from Montana in a Karman Gia with no AC, and it was his daily for years. If it wasn't for that dude, I would have felt like a pimp listening to Steelers Wheel in a car none of the freshman chicks had ever seen.

I drove from BR to Dallas in the middle of July once when moving with the gf, and the AC went out about 3 hours outside of Dallas
It was one of the most brutal 3 hours of my life. We were absolutely dripping. We’d pull over at gas stations every 30 minutes or so and jsut open the freezer and get in it. Towards the end I was going 100 mph, givin zero fvcks if I got a ticket, had to get out of that car

Started legally driving in 1980. First vehicle with A/C was in 1989.

I was 32 before I had a vehicle with AC. It gets pretty hot in Oklahoma. Honestly don’t remember it being a big deal. To this day i prefer riding with the windows down until it gets above 95 degrees

Did it one summer in BR. It was a '92 BMW 325i. The damn evaporator died and you had to take the whole fricking car apart to get to it. It was above my skill set and out of my budget, so I just said frick it.

I had a 1990 Honda Civic that I loved. Good car, fantastic mileage (standard transmission), peppy engine.
After 7 years and 115k miles, AC went out. Sweat my arse off every day on the way home from work.
Thanks to AL Gore banning freon, the entire system would have had to have been changed out at a cost of about what the value of the car was worth.
In retrospect, I should have bitten the bullet. I would still see that car driving around town for another 10 years.

1992 Honda Prelude.
2 years in college before I got a new truck with A/C. I worked through college and paid for the truck myself.
Still drove the truck around with the windows down. Did so until I got my first professional job, now I'm an A/C windows up guy.
