Come on. Tell us about it. It seems like it’s always a. Honda accord.

1980 Datsun station wagon in college. I even drove from Bogalusa to Corpus Christi and back to BR with a friend in heat that was pretty close to this.

Four speed, no over drive. No A/C. And we basically subsisted on Chili Cheese Fritos for the entire drive. The windows definitely needed to be open.

In college the AC compressor died on my 1998 Expedition and I rode windows down to school and work for the entire summer. It wasn't horrible when the vehicle was moving. I took a lot of longer routes to avoid having to stop.

Why?
And I don’t know of a single person who I’m the last 25 years hasn’t had a working AC in their vehicle.

Right now, brother. A 2013 Nissan Sentra. It’s already had its transmission replaced to the tune of $4,000. It’s got 175,000 miles on it.

I’m struggling with the idea of dumping more money into it, so I’m hesitant to bring it to a mechanic to fix the A/C. Maybe I’d get lucky and it would be a cheap fix, but I doubt it.

I try to park in the shade and avoid having my kids suffer through it, much.

That’s the most depressing thing I’ve read all day.

I had a couple beaters with no AC in high school. Can’t imagine it now. But I was skin and bones and always high in high school. Now, not so much.

We got kicked out of his parent's house over summer break for coming home drunk from Marley's. The kind of drunk where I carried him to my car to make him drive back to the house kind of stuff.

You just reminded me of the vinyl seats. I won't call it a POS, because it was a hell of a trooper being almost as old as I was, but it was brown, and I also had aluminum tape on the top of the windshield to keep rain from leaking in, and the rear muffler retention mount was a coat hanger I jury rigged to keep the muffler from dragging on the ground.

Fun times.

My dad had an ‘82 Chevy Truck with no a/c that he used as a daily driver, it was miserable. The only slight salvation from frying in that thing was the corner window vents that kicked out and the floor sidewall vents that you could pull open. He kept that thing until after Katrina.

Yep.

I put like $1500 in the ac last summer and it quit on me Saturday.

Drove to the dealership and started looking for a new ride.

Decided to heck with it. I’d rather sweat than pay.

There’s only like max 4 more months of this heat at this point. I’d rather ride it out at this point.

I may punk out though. We will see.

My daily's AC could prob use a recharge. It blows cold like 30% of the time. Want to get rid of it but don't really want to buy a new car rn. On a typical day that I have to drive that particular car, I'm only driving like 25-30 mins total.

I heard Scotty Kilmer say Honda’s ac goes out quicker because they don’t have good seals and of course he said Toyotas have better seals lol.

Dude. Try a couple cans of the Freon with sealant. $60 bought me another summer one year.

I have ac, but I still ride with my windows down always if it’s not raining.

Just roll down the windows. Instead of fixing your car let your wife use that money to get a pedi/manicure

97 Tacoma with a non-working A/C for 16 years. Drove it daily like that for about 10 years. It now sits in the yard waiting for an occasional pull of a trailer or a trip to the dump.

My first car was a 1979 Ford Pinto station wagon. Got the car in 1985 86. It did have air conditioning at the time but when I got it was inop. So I mounted an oscillating fan onto the dashboard like the cabs had back in the day. Between that fan and the windows rolled down is how I got to work everyday. I was working my way through Delgado for the airframe and powerplant mechanic program and working at Sears after school for money. Nothing like sitting in traffic in a long sleeve dress shirt and tie sweating your balls off before you even get to your job.
