Back in 95 or 96, I had a black 1989 Nissan Pulsar with T-tops and no AC during the summer. My first task every time I got in the car was to pull those tops off and roll the windows down. I guess the designers expected the t-tops to be left off in the rain at times because this happened to me several times, with no electrical or mold issues.

My daily just had that stupid desiccant bag break in the condenser core and screwed up my AC. I've purchased a new core and a compressor but I have not had time yet to change them out. I already changed out the expansion valve but I need to flush my lines, change out the core and compressor and recharge.

So for the moment I've got no AC which is why I've been commuting in my old beater as it's AC is working. I miss the days of when they put the compressor up top, there was a receiver drier and everything was easy to swap out.

It's going to be a bitch to remove the core and compressor in my car and then flush the lines. Car engineers can kiss my arse.

Growing up in the 50's my dad never had a car with A/C and the running joke was if you wanted to be cool in the summertime he'd say:

"We'll soon have 4 x 60" which meant roll down all 4 windows and he'd do 60 down the road.

1992 GMC truck. Drove her from 96 to 2009. 2007 to 2009 she didn't have AC. I got used to it but was forced to drive a client one day to a job site. That guy looked like he jumped in a pool when we got there. I got a new truck the next week. Was embarrassed.

Yes. Think cool thoughts while driving and become familiar with all the local convenience stores that have real, working, not on perpetual defrost, Icee machines.

I wouldn’t go any longer than what it took to get my vehicle to the dealership if my AC broke.

That's the way it goes.
My '94 Ranger has A/C, but it's not worked for years on end. Get it fixed or recharged with freon, and by next summer, it's out again.

I simply got very accustomed, and now think of myself as a pu$$y for getting in another vehicle and turning on the A/C immediately. I have to get that truck running again.

And I don’t know of a single person who I’m the last 25 years hasn’t had a working AC in their vehicle.

Same

Only the poorest of poors would try to drive a car without AC in June, July, and August

You’d literally be soaking wet whenever you got where you were going

If it just stopped. As in nothing catastrophically happened to the AC components.. you are probably just low on charge. The pressure sensors will not let the compressor activate if it’s low.

Try going to an auto parts store and getting one of those recharge kits. You will probably get AC back. At worst you are out 30 bucks or so. But I’d gamble that 30-40 in this heat.

I used to drive a Jeep Commanche with no air and vinyl seats. I imagine some of my flesh is still stuck to those seats.

Thanks for the advice, friend. The A/C on this car has been functioning poorly for a bit, now. We recharged the system last summer. It ran well, but was blowing warm air again about a month later.

Would it be risky for the system to simply recharge it again and have A/C for a few weeks?

The A/C compressor on my Integra GSR went bad. I never replaced it because I needed the room for the turbo.

I had a 1990 Acura Legend when I was newly married. Was an outside sale rep who had a ride along in my car with my VP. Warned him ahead of time the AC was broken and he was cool with it. Two guys in dress clothes with ties making sales calls in Atlanta in July. Might have been 100+ that day.

When the day was done, he called our ops manager and told him to order the company car I had earned via performance IMMEDIATELY.

This is odd. Around here all the dealerships and private shops put 2year warranties on all their work. Why won't your shop cover this?
