Were you one of those people who, while growing up, dreamed about leaving your hometown when you had the chance and starting up your life somewhere else? Or did you love your hometown enough to where you never wanted to leave?

If you are the former, did you end up sticking around or did you move?

It’s a lot harder to when it’s New York or L.A.

I moved as far away from my hometown as I could get and not be in the middle of the pacific.

I came back.

Never moving away.

Well I was born in a small town
And I live in a small town
Probably die in a small town
Oh, those small communities

All my friends are so small town
My parents live in the same small town
My job is so small town
Provides little opportunity

Educated in a small town
Taught the fear of Jesus in a small town
Used to daydream in that small town
Another boring romantic that's me

But I've seen it all in a small town
Had myself a ball in a small town
Married an L.A. doll and brought her to this small town
Now she's small town just like me

No I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be

Got nothing against a big town
Still hayseed enough to say
Look who's in the big town
But my bed is in a small town
Oh, and that's good enough for me

Well I was born in a small town
And I can breathe in a small town
Gonna die in this small town
And that's probably where they'll bury me

Started over somewhere else. Highly recommend it if you have a tolerance for a little risk. Most people are too risk averse.

The vast majority of people I know that stayed in our hometown and haven’t left are pretty much who I expected. Married others we went to HS with, go to Orange Beach every year for a “vacation”, live in some cookie cutter DSLD shite where you get to choose the shade of beige you want your house and which side you want your garage on; overall I feel pretty bad for a majority of them.

It’s good to get out in the world and explore a bit. Have some new experiences.

I grew up on the North shore, went off to college, met a girl, and now live in the town I went to college in.

I know my life isn’t the norm but I was shocked how many of my classmates went back to their hometowns.

I never had anything against BR growing up. Life took me elsewhere (FL) and looking back, that's been a deeply fortunate thing for me.

I love my hometown, I love where I spent my time in college, and I love where I live now. Im always homesick for Arkansas, but I don’t regret moving.

I left my hometown/state for LSU. Never moved back home, but left Louisiana. Probably staying in TN for the long haul, and will build a second home back in MT in the future.

Meh. I love louisiana. For all its positives and in some ways all its failings.

For the fact that its 96 outside, and I'm approaching a half hour in what started as an ice bath after clearing trees.

I grew up in Huntsville, AL. Great city then, even better city now. I'd move back in a heartbeat if the right opportunity came along for my wife and I.
