Locally, in Nola, the VA and UMC are seeing a high rate symptomatic cases. It felt like my test referral rate was near 100% yesterday.

You pretty much nailed it. Especially your referral rate.

There are a lot of people the think they had it, and it would be nice if they are right.

So...we need an antibody test with widespread use? Is there one available yet?

Thinking of testing as how it affects individuals is not the point. The point is data. The CDC and White House need good data to make decisions, especially moving forward. It's woefully short-sighted to act like testing is unimportant.

People WANT to have it that’s the sad part.

Disagree that it will cause panic. Let's say tomorrow we know that there are actually 5 million cases of COVID-19 across the US. That would mean it is much closer to working itself through the population with greater herd immunity and it is much less fatal than we thought. ...Not saying that is the actual number, but just saying it is more likely to calm than panic most people.

As stupid as Americans are and as evil as the media is, I wouldn't not for one second bet that it would calm people.

I assume the "D" is department, right? I've never heard it called that before, so I wanted to ask if there was a shift.

Anyway, if someone told me they were an ED doctor or nurse, I'd assume they worked in urology trying to get dicks hard.

People going into the ER for minor things is not something new driven by this panic.

People have been going to the ER for sniffles, sunburns, etc for a looooong time. The reason? The people that have jobs, and provide for their families pay the bill. I have witnessed people say to me leaving the hospital that they will return in a week bc it is free. It is hard to care sometimes

Yep, which is a big part of why a family member switched from ER to OR nursing.

We found out last week they closed several homeless shelters in our area due to not being able to really isolate everyone.

Curious to know if they (our ED) have seen even more homeless wandering into the ED because of that.
