Fuel adjustment charge that never seems to go away
The fuel adjustment charge is simply the cost of the fuel that it took to produce the power (ie in a coal fired power plant, that would be cost of the coal). So you are correct, that charge will never go away.

That’s insane. I live in metro GA. 5br, 3.5ba. 2-story plus finished basement. 3 A/C units and a pool pump that runs 8 hours a day. Just got my highest power bill. $256 which is about normal for August

Customer Charge: $10.00
This is to subsidize those who do levelized billing. I wish they would outlaw that crap.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS · Customer Charge: A monthly charge that covers a portion of the fixed costs required to provide electricity service that is not dependent on energy usage. · Energy Charge: Covers the cost of the system utilized to generate and deliver electric service to customers. · 2012 Hurricane Offset Charge: Benefits associated with the financing of storm restoration costs. · Fuel Adjustment: The cost of fuel needed to generate electricity and the cost of power purchased from other Companies. · Federal Mandated EAC Rider: Costs to comply with federal air pollution regulations. · LURC 2012 Hurricane Charge: Costs to rebuild infrastructure and equipment damaged by severe storms and weather events.
Think of a gas pump for example. If you had to pay for your gas and get charged $5 on top for the fixed costs to operate the pump. I could add 100 more examples. Its a slippery slope.

You’re smart enough to know that weather is different in different parts of the country, right?
Louisiana is hotter and more humid than Georgia. Hence, we have higher electric bills for AC.

Meta must have bigger plans than Facebook and Instagram. No idea why they need all the AI data centers.

Dumb. That should be calculated as part of the energy. At some point they can’t just defer all their price risk.

Actually, if you’d bother to take a look, Entergy has some of the lowest electric cost in the entire US !
Posted on 9/12/26 at 9:39 am to kew48
Base rate or does that factor in all their fees?
Posted on 9/12/26 at 9:42 am to DiamondDog
The cost per unit is also up over 20% since last year. It is a racket.

Just wait for the oil prices to reach their ultimate conclusion in the coming months. Our insistence on using oil for power and not nuclear is about to really bite the average American in the arse.

And then they ask you to donate to some stupid fund when paying online. frick you Entergy I’m not “donating”
I just got an email about donating to help others pay their bill... Covid did a number on everyone.. All my bills practically doubled since then... The water bill in JP has people crying to the news and calling for Sheng's head... The water department's comment is "we have been undercharging you for years". But that doesn't jive when people are getting 2 and 3 thousand dollar water bills...

Ridiculous to be charging 14 years later.

I've been trying to figure out for two years how to claim that money I spend on my Entergy bill to insure Entergy against storms. I'm apparently an insurance provider for their business, against my will.

Apparently we are still financing Hurricane Isaac damages from 2012z
I live in Lake Charles. I don’t think that even affected us.
What about Laura? It couldn’t have been more devastating than that.
And why exactly do I have to finance these things as a customer? Seems like this company carries absolutely no risk.

Energy costs are sky high thanks to the war. What did you expect

You blame Trump for all your misery?
