With today technology. You can log into your entergy account and see your daily usuage down to the minute. It can help you find problems in your home before you get hit with a big monthly bill. Rates per KWH rarely change much enough to notice. It's your personal usage that increases. Could have a bad appliance that will show when it cycles the usage increases. That's on you not Entergy. You can look on thier website and see the cost of a KWH of electricity hasn't changed more than a couple of cents in a long time. You have the ablility to control your usage. But most want take the time but love to bitch and gripe when that bill comes in. And for "READING THEW METER WRONG" …..BS. Its all in real time digital meters that are callibrated regular and reconciled monthly.
Found the Entergy employee.

They did the same to me when I lived there in 2001. They told me they were "catching me up" as if some accumulation they weren't charging had finally come due.
Nothing I could do about it, of course, but it's not a mistake. It's been part of their business model for years.

You are retarded if you truly think Entergy has accurate, real-time usage data on residential customers, doubly so if you think a customer can pinpoint a "bad appliance" based on such data. You probably work for Entergy and it's obvious they hire retards which is why this thread exists in the first place.

LA Public Service Commission
Contact your commissioners office with any problem with electricity, natural gas, phone(landline). When you call the company you get customer service. When you call the LPSC they get regulatory/legal at the company. Regulatory/Legals's job is to keep the Commissioner happy.
One time I needed Atmos to turn on the gas. Called the day I was moving in and Customer Service told me it would be three days after my deposit was paid. told them that was not good enough that I would get it turned on that day. Customer Service basically said I was an idiot. Told her to check my account in a couple of days. Called the Commissioner that I knew and within an 1.5 hours my gas was on.

Let them know Louisiana is the 15th most expensive state for Electricity and thank them for that. It is good to be in the top 15 in something.

Man, they're really going the extra mile to keep the wool pulled over our eyes. They hire some guy in a goofy bike helmet and a neon construction vest to ride around my neighborhood on a Segway pretending to look at meters to throw us off their trail.

Residential rates are the cheapest in the country.
Residential electric rates
There are three classes of rates
Residential
Commercial
Industrial
Commercial rates subsidize residential.
Industrial, if they can co generate have the cheapest rates of all three classes.
The rates would be even lower but for that ridiculous power purchase agreement they were forced to sign for "hydro power"
Murrey hydro

For a utility bill to go up 300%, it would have to be something related to estimates, inaccurate readings or something of that nature. If people would just read their meters they could eliminate a lot of crap dealing with Entergy. With most meters being digital these days it’s simple to do. Also you can look on your bill to see when they normally read (supposedly) the meter each month. One other thing. If you have a digital meter they do not have to get to the meter to get a reading. This process is utilized because of so many meters behind fences. If you still have a problem with them you can arrange a time for them to open a gate for them to reread your meter. I am not taking up for Entergy because I think mine is to high but at least it’s consistent. Also if you look at the fuel adjustment cost on your bill, it is usually high when your bill is high. That is the cost of the fuel that was used to make the electricity that you are being billed for.

Had a similar issue in one of my rental houses in town recently. Black Hills Energy, gas bill in the summer is usually $20 a month, just for the connection, no usage because only the heater is on gas. Everything else is electric. Well the last bill shows up $100 . I go into account and check out usage, usage is also WAY up compared to previous month, or same month last year. BHE sends a guy out , sure enough a gas leak in line between meter and house. So it is my problem to fix and I have to pay the higher monthly bill. Ah the joys of being a land lord.

None of that is true.
Somebody else already posted the correct information. If your bill is out of line call Entergy and question it. If you are certain they are sticking it to you then call the PSC.

Entergy is barely a half-step better than the Sewerage and Water Board when it comes to customer service and management.
However, this is a TERRIBLE article.
Why are the bills higher?
Is it for a longer period?
Did consumption go up?
Did the rate per kWh go up?
Did the fuel adjustment rate go up?
Is it all of Kenner? A certain neighborhood or neighborhoods? Is there any connection between the affected residents?

How do we get competition between energy companies like Texas?
Entergy Louisiana rates are significantly lower than any of the "power to choose" companies in Texas.
Texas went from customer dealing with utility to, customer dealing with retailer dealing with utility. Any time you insert a middleman into the process, costs are going up. All these middleman companies have their own costs and profit needs.
In addition, because there are so many companies out there, they don't really get much volume pricing when it comes to wholesale purchases.
It is just not working.

I don't know I moved to Texas recently and my energy bill significantly cheaper. I did move to a slightly smaller place but I no longer change my thermostat during the day and just keep it at 71 all the time so I count that as a wash and turns out to be much cheaper.
