You went to the part of the route where the riders take cover

You can’t buy a handgun or ammo for the gun under the age of 21.
Now if they are over age and concealing it without permit, that is also against the law.
But if they are over 21 and open carry, no one should have a problem.

Nah, it’s illegal for all of us to conceal carry without a permit.
It was also illegal for me when I was a teen.
Oh and…..

Young people commit gun offenses in high numbers. In 2019, 28,568 young people between the ages of 10 and 21 were arrested for weapons offenses, such as illegally carrying or possessing a firearm. This group made up 26% of all arrests for weapons offenses that year.
Data also suggests that young people disproportionately commit gun homicides. For example, 18-20-year olds comprise just 4% of the US population, but account for 17% of known homicide offenders.

Is it concealed if you got a Glock 19 with a 40 round mag plainly visible?
IDK La's open carry laws.

New Orleans is a failed city. Why is this even news.

It doesn’t matter if you are on a parade route

We were at Carrolton and Canal ish and it was fine. I even remarked to myself and a few others how chill it was and how you can have so many people together at one time with no issues.
Yeah I was in Carrollton for 12 hours yesterday. No problems. Good people all around us

Sad that TD Karen's are mad bad things haven't been happening at the parades they are resorting to making up 'roving gangs' at the parades.

Well how observant is the op? Were they in a holster or in their pocket? I would think in your pocket is considered concealed.
But that doesn’t matter if underage.
The point is these laws pertain to everyone. Not what others are suggesting.

Imagine being a grown arse woman and taking $1 plastic beads from an eleven year old kid. fricking people.
We went to Iris yesterday and I saw the same thing. Some heavy woman ~35-40 years old literally sideswiped a little girl who had to be about 4/5 years old. Literally put that girl on her arse on the street. All because she was trying to catch some Harry Potter (I think) bead.
To be fair, it was an accident and she apologized afterward. But just the lack of care about who is around you (knowing children are) was so strange to see. You’d have sworn that float was throwing hundred dollar bills the way this lady acted. But nah, just cheap as frick plastic beads.

I really think the age to purchase a firearm, or to carry one outside of a hunting scenario, ought to be higher, like 25 years old or so. There's a clear pattern here and there's nothing in the Bill of Rights saying "babies included."
People always throw out the "die for muh country" thing. There's a reason platoon commanders carry a sidearm, though. The Army's trust in 18-year-olds is far from absolute.

Everything looked fine from on the float.

Pretty much.
We should also be thankful they are carrying, because if a mass shooting were to go down they would be in a position to take down the perp.
All it takes is one person carrying to stop a mass shooting in progress.

If you don't like that why live in Louisiana? Other states have Mardi gras too now.

Probably still safer than the Bacchus crowds. Undesirables from all over SELA come to Nola just for today, compounding the existing problems presented by our native undesirables.
