We received an email distributed to my seven year olds entire class Asking parents to grade our child’s online assignments going forward since she has morning and afternoon classes now and won’t be able to get to them.

Also emphasized the importance of parents instructing children on acceptable, appropriate behavior in the classroom.

These teacher are soft and not earning their pay check. Why can’t she grade assignments after her late class or before her early one. Why can’t they punish kids for bad behavior in class and reward good behavior... pitiful and lazy

Try sending this e-mail to parents... well, parent, in an "urban" school district.

Sorry a-hole, behavior is a parent issue. If you aren’t teaching your kid how to act at school you’re part of the problem.

Now the grading issue is bs. I’d contact the principal about that.

That “parent” is usually a grandparent who has no idea how to work a computer

It gets worse as they get older. I have an 8th grader who just got 2 Cs on his progress report. I chewed him out good and we went to look at his individual grades. He had 6 zeros on assignments he swore he turned in online. We went and looked and he had turned them in. I emailed the teacher and she said she was behind in grading.

So you have kids bringing home grades to parents that aren’t their true grades because the teacher failed to grade them on time and instead just filled in zeros. Wtf kind of bullshite is that?

I know a friend of a friend who’s a 2nd grade teacher. She complains nonstop on social media about how hard of a job it is and how underpaid she is. In the same breath she’ll boast about her summer vacation plans while normal people work.

I don’t want to hear it. You work a low-skill job 9 months out of the year.

This is your job. You instruct your kid how to act in restaurants, church, etc...do you not?

You’re kidding, right? Teachers’ hands have been tied on disciplinary matters for years.

I agree with you about grading assignments. That’s obviously the teacher’s job.

Maybe the teachers have to spend so much time correcting the kids they don't get enough time to teach.. And she shouldn't have to tell parents to instruct their children on acceptable, appropriate behavior in the classroom. The fact that teachers have to say reflects on the parents. With that said.. Are you sure its the teachers who are pitiful and lazy?

Public or private school?

My kids’ elementary teachers have been really good during this pandemic. They’ve gone above and beyond to keep all the kids engaged and learning even while there is a constant rotation of kids being quarantined.

We’ve put extra money into their class Christmas gifts as have most parents.

I agree with Antonio. My kid's elementary teachers have been great. They have done an especially great job keeping both the virtual and in-person students engaged.

While I don't understand why the teacher cannot grade the online assignments, and I doubt the school admin would support non-grading, ensuring your elementary child succeeds is on you at the end of the day...so, I would grade them.

I work late every night, I don’t give a shite if they aren’t finished at 3 or not. Get the job done, everybody else has to. When I waited tables you didn’t leave till everything was done, even if it was one in the morning. People complaining because they have to work is irritating

I’m an elementary school teacher, and that’s pathetic. I have 34 and 33 students per class, but it’s my responsibility to grade my student’s work not the parents.

If her email really says she doesn’t have time to do her work, I’d forward it to the principal and guidance counselor to complain. Any other job would fire her.

Add High school teachers and college professors to that list.
