A P1 floated through Ian water last year and is famously being rebuilt.

No need for hysteria considering the tradeoff are oil slicks during a normal flood that frickup everything they touch.

Except shite usually catches fire when it's being used. Electrics tend to catch fire when everyone is asleep or the car is in the garage. Same now with the salt water and having these cars that are just sitting there catch on fire.

People aren't used to having shite just burst into flames when it's not being used.

Not everything. It has a therapeutic effect on some types of skin problems. I had a spider bite that wouldn't heal some years ago. It got better when I spent some time swimming in the ocean.

Hyundai and Ford have both recently had recalls for spontaneous combustion of their ICE vehicles while parked.

Two Tesla cars, one in Palm Harbor and another in Pinellas Park, seemed to spontaneously combust after becoming flooded with saltwater during the hurricane, Florida officials said.

Probably got that clot shot, amirite?

First of all, i read Dunedin as Dindu at first

And regardless of the fires, worry about your carbon foot print is more important. Also, the best thing you can do after a hurricane is to get vaccinated

Did this happen in California during Hurricane Hilary?

I didn’t realize there was a storm surge with Hillary. I thought all the flooding was fresh water

Oil slicks from submerged vehicles? What the hell are you talking about?

Metal ion batteries DONT like being submerged in salt water?????

If any of you fellas can handle a little heat and need to do some welding though? It’s like a welding party. Hell it may get hot enough to not need solder. Just put your two pieces of steel together. Might fuse them.

True. But you know what caused those ICE vehicles to “spontaneously combust while parked”? The LITHIUM batteries that are being used in some of the newer vehicles instead of the tried and true “old technology” lead acid batteries.

Have you ever been around a submerged vehicle?

They can leak out fluids.

But do they combust when the fluid hits water, or the ground?

Heck, just being around an EV near the beach could be fatal!

And you should be elated the Floyd signed an extension for Mercedes.

True. Not sure I'd value one over the other.

Li-Ion batteries are in nearly every consumer electronic today. You think we should go to the “tried and true old technology” of NiCd or NiMH for our cell phones and laptops too? Or maybe we can come up with a lead acid powered laptop.

No. Those simply burst into flames from behind the cabin spontaneously.
