It's because every other state has a $10,000 limit until a judge gets involved. In LA, theres a $50,000 limit before the judge gets involved. Hence, the insurance companies just hand out settlement money to avoid paying legal fees and court costs. Pretty much, Louisiana is fricking stupid, where the citizens elect plaintiff attorneys for judge positions.

WTF are you talking about? This is a prime example of the moronic spreading falsehoods to the ignorant of this state. Not many even understand tort reform but they have a deep opinion about it.

Rispone was probably just indicating he can’t be bought.

The $50 mill includes his ownership and career earnings from his company as well as all of his assets

Career earnings is the wrong term. If he made X dollars but spent X dollars on items that don't retain any value (vacations, bills, taxes, etc) then it is not counted in his net worth. Net worth is current accounts + asset value

If it was the same dinner that I attended Thursday night, he didn’t say that. He did mention his billboard and voiced his displeasure regarding injury attorneys but never said that he had more money than any of them.

He probably is richer than any lawyer in Louisiana. He’s the founder of one of the most successful contracting groups in the country. Think about all the projects and jobs ISC has in plants and industries and all the money they make

Why is everyone just taking this dude's "aunt's" word that Rispone said this?

Nahh. There are more than several who were worth more while they were still dragging on the tit, but he has surely earned in his time.

Probably. His high-profile class action suits go all the way back to Three Mile Island.

How many times have you heard someone say something, and then hear it repeated in a totally different and probably inaccurate manner? My mom tells me stuff almost daily that she states as fact which are simply her interpretations.

Then again, since we don't know who you are, we have no idea of why you might lie, but there's plenty of possible reasons... so maybe this whole thread is just that.
