A ton of analysts and experts with no dog in this hunt have some pretty substantial breakdowns of why this case was absolute nonsense.

I also knew little about Ed Sheeran until I was dragged to a concert.

Fantastic show. He has a pretty good range beyond the angst breakup songs.

Musicians take things from each other all the time. One band influenced another that influenced another and so on. They even take lines or samples and inject them into original songs. Weird thing to sue over.

The Marvin Gaye family group is a bunch of simps. They sue people all the time for copyright infringement.

It wasn't Gaye's family but a cowriters.

He is extremely talented and very entertaining.

I'd happily pay to get this douchebag's songs out of our playlist rotation at work. Taylor Swift too. fricking garbage.

Careful y’all.

Got a couple of downvoters in here who clearly hate his music.

Working somewhere that plays music over the speakers isn't the own you think it is

Isn't that a David Allan Coe song?

DAC didn't write it. Hell, DAC or Chris Stapleton aren't even the most famous country singers to record it.

the combinations of notes is a finite number, albeit a massive number (I believe that number is close to 12^12...which is a really big number).

But the vast majority of those combinations would sound like absolute shite. So unless we only want songs moving forward that are complete dissonant nonsensical noise, then we better hope cases like this end up just like this one did - not copyright infringement.

It's those baws from the music board. If it ain't Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Willie Nelson, The Who, Van Halen, Merle Haggard or something in this realm, prepare to be shite on.

Good, because he said he'd quit making music if he lost that lawsuit.

Go listen to "I'd Rather go Blind" by Etta James if you want to know where Stapleton's version came from.

Yeah he got radio poppy crap all over but he is a talented musician unlike many in the industry blowing up. Guy takes a guitar, a loop station, and his voice and goes and does it all. It’s entertaining and nobody else does it right now

Good. There may be a tiny tiny similarity, but not nearly enough to say it was copied.

Written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. David Allen Coe sang it first, then George Jones.

Ed is a very talented guy.
I highly doubt he has ever thought of ripping off another musician song.

His concerts are a one man show and they are really good
