With Shreveport having “2 Days of Prayer” related to violence and Baton Rouge having 5 killed this week (and the week is not over yet), I have an idea.

Contact your city council person and request the following be placed on the agenda.

1 – Each shooting incident shall require the Mayor of Baton Rouge be present as soon as the crime scene is secure – no matter what time of the day or night.

2 – Each shooting incident shall require the Metro Council member representing the district where the shooting occurred be present as soon as the crime scene is secure – no matter what time of the day or night.

I don’t know if this will help solve our issues but if they get their arse woken up in the middle of the night and have to travel to a murder scene then maybe that will light a fire under their arse.

Does Murphy Paul go to each shooting scene?

You can email your representative using council-distX@brla.gov where the “X” is the district number.

You can email the entire council by using metrocouncil@brla.gov.

If you don’t know what district you are in, the here is the link:

Metro Districts Map

The members are:

DISTRICT 1 - BRANDON NOEL
DISTRICT 2 - CHAUNA BANKS
DISTRICT 3 - ROWDY GAUDET
DISTRICT 4 - AARON MOAK
DISTRICT 5 - ERIKA L. GREEN
DISTRICT 6 - CLEVE DUNN JR.
DISTRICT 7 - LAMONT COLE
DISTRICT 8 - DENISE AMOROSO
DISTRICT 9 - DWIGHT HUDSON
DISTRICT 10 - CAROLYN COLEMAN
DISTRICT 11 - LAURIE ADAMS

It’d be nice to have some elected reps there for media to ask for unscripted comments every time there’s a shooting.

I like the idea of notifying the council representatives of the deceased. You wanted to represent the people, that means even those involved in a life of crime or the victims of violence.

The council has the ability to conduct inquires into police practices and tactics and allocate additional funding. It’s time to put some pressure on them to force the lame Mayor to implement effective practices. We’ve all had enough of her political theatre.

Or you could just, I dunno, vote better.

Or get away from the idiots that don't.

Maybe, maybe not. It will certainly create more accountability with the Mayor as there will be a photo op at each and every murder with her at the scene. Go for it

I’d love for this to happen in Shreveport but we’d have to get Mayor Perkins and Councilwoman Levette Fuller to stop driving drunk first.

Do they even go to the council meetings all of the time?

Gonna suck having to drive that extra block if it’s a night he stays at his “other” house

That’s actually a pretty dang good idea.

If they had to face the actual bodies and family screaming, the mayor and council would quickly change their tune

We'll gladly trade you this one and we'll take the couple of drunks off your hands.

In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter if there's one less hood rat or person living on government assistance? The fact of the matter is, there is a limited amount the government can do unless and until these communities take some responsibiity and ownership of the problems and impliment change from within.

DA Hillar Moore goes to every homicide scene day or night. Has been doing that since he got elected. That's a lot of homicide scenes.
