Ebonics is an acceptable bastardization of the english language. Haven't you heard?

I don’t think they’re dumb, it just sounds dumb to me...It’s annoying. I’ve had the director of an organization I worked for do the same shite. Of course I just sat annoyed instead doing anything else.

The director has a grad degree from MIT, is in the Navy, is a preacher, and he was the director for a huge organization...He is by all measures a very successful man. I have no doubt he only talked like that with people below him.

So you saying she doesn't speak the way you want her to? So...

It was however OP's choice to use the word "ebonics" so yeah I'm comfortable calling him racist.
The guy who came up with the term was obviously racist, too.
quote:
The word Ebonics was originally coined in 1973 by African American social psychologist Robert Williams[1] in a discussion with linguist Ernie Smith (as well as other language scholars and researchers) that took place in a conference on "Cognitive and Language Development of the Black Child", held in St. Louis, Missouri.[2][3] His intention was to give a name to the language of African Americans that acknowledged the linguistic consequence of the slave trade and avoided the negative connotations of other terms like "Nonstandard Negro English":[4]

Ebonics doesn't bother me until I see a middle aged white guy typing that shite on a message board.

...it annoys me. I feel like I need re-educating or something.
I write reports in Mathcad and it doesn’t have grammar or spell check...it’s humbling since I’m accustomed to the crutches.
I wonder if Latoya’s computer be like what the hell that mean.

quote:Sounds like a true badass and a strong leader. Understanding and relating to the population is sometimes part of what makes a person right for the job, how someone uses grammar (unless it's completely unintelligible like an LSU physics class) is not as important, at least in my opinion.

On the flip side, liberals using Trump's grammatical gaffes as "sticking points" against him are also annoying to me. It's just not relevant at all.

I have noticed that some educated black people speak completely differently when they are communicating with others of the same race. I've always wondered why.

People who speak Ebonics are not part of American society. They have opted into a subversive subculture. I don’t get mad about kneeling because it’s not really “Americans” kneeling

Do you even AAVE, bro?
I'm ashamed we have sunk this low to legitimize this murder of the English language.

AAVE is an acronym for African American Vernacular English. Other terms for it in academia are African American Varieties of English, African American English (AAE), Black English (BE) and Black English Vernacular (BEV).

To me it’s just annoying because I always tried hard to get 100s in all that stuff and to not sound like an ignorant person. Now I see that wasn’t necessary and I don’t even get much credit for doing it right.
