I don’t understand why families don’t seem to do this anymore. It seemed like my grandparents generation (Greatest Generation) LIVED to play yenta and matchmaker. The one time my mom even encouraged me to pursue someone was when she told me to ask my cousin (who I was close with and grew up with my whole life knowing we were related) to prom after the girl I liked dropped out at the last minute. My cousin (who is still cool af) is a lesbian now. Thanks mom!

Not sure that holds true anymore. I remember that saying from long ago.
But now most (interested) single women are out there on dating sites or otherwise active, sifting through prospects and going on dates, at least occasionally. The ones that aren’t are the exception and probably skew to the undateable side. So if you plan on idling it may be forever.
And the greatest misconception is the romantic notion that it will “happen eventually” and there’s someone out there you’re meant to be with, yada yada. Nope you gotta work.
