Like, I know the cost of food has increased 4 fold in a time while minimum wage has remained flat, but if you got rid if your $10/month subscription, you could totally buy a house. I was poor once too back when I was making an amount that would be equivalent to over 100k/year today when adjusted for inflation. I did all that with a mortgage and a car note that combined and adjusted for inflation would still be significantly below the median rent in a low cost of living metro!
Y’all have it so easy with your $12 six packs of “cheap” domestic beer and your avocado toast! How come you didn’t settle down with someone like my lesbian coded wife who married me at 19 because her parents pressured her to wed the only bachelor in our small town who stood to inherit a business from his father? I know we haven’t had sex for 10 years and I joke about killing her, but you young-ins are just a bunch of lazy autistic incels, yuk yuk. Now, if you don’t mind me, I’m going to obsessively fiddle with this model train set for the next 6 hours in my garage since that’s the only place my wife and her best friend won’t bother me.

If you enjoy sports and know something about baseball, maybe you could try signing up as a Little League coach. We never have enough quality coaches, and it’s actually a lot of fun if you are a competitive person and know the sport. And some of those moms have younger sisters or nieces. What they see is a nice young man who is good with kids and gives back to his community (i.e. dad material). They also know you aren’t some sort of creep because we run background checks on all of the coaches. I actually think this could work. Little League is one of the few community based organizations that we have left, but it many places it’s holding on by its fingernails.
Just because you can pass a background check doesn't mean you're not waiting for the chance to groom a kid. Gary's son found out the hard way.

I’m a mom, and I wouldn’t view a young guy coaching for fun in this way. I’d see a guy who loves sports and is good with kids. And I would definitely be setting him up on dates with young women who also like sports. Stop looking at the worst possible outcome. Besides, you are never alone with the kids. There are always other parents/coaches around.

I’m trying to picture myself as a little league coach, comparing it to when my dad was my coach and my older brother his assistant.
Those poor kids would field the worst team that league had ever seen
Like Ray Charles chauffeuring Stevie Wonder.

I did suggest this for guys who know baseball. LOL. But trust me that a lot of the coaches in Little League are really bad. It’s often some kid’s dad who doesn’t know the sport and doesn’t want to coach. If you are willing to schedule practices to give the kids extra reps and as long as you encourage the kids, the parents will love you.

Knowing a sport and being physically skilled at that sport are two VERY different things, lol.

Definitely not knocking those guys. Often their preference would be not to coach, but they don’t have a choice and step up. The problem is that other moms/dads don’t do the same sometimes. So you end up with some coaches covering multiple teams. It’s a lot. Select baseball has pulled off not only talent, but coaches as well. And you have some really talented kids left whose parents can’t afford select. That’s why I’m saying these young guys who know baseball should get out there and teach those kids. It’s a great way to get involved in your local community. If you don’t go to church, you have to link yourself in somehow. Those community link eventually produce dates.

Being physically skilled and knowing how to coach are two totally different things. If you played into high school (maybe not even that far), then you know enough to teach younger kids. There is so much stuff out there on YouTube now. You just need to know enough about mechanics to get started. Just give the kids reps and encourage them.

That’s actually a really good point.

These kinds of discussions are often not fruitful. Someone who admits they are struggling with getting dates is an easy target for trolling and there is always a subset of people willing to bask in other peoples pain and frustration for their own amusement
