And Phil was once an alcoholic and wife beater before he became a man of God.

He may not approve of it but I doubt he will have a falling out with his family over it.

Serious question- do they address Phil being a total POS years ago? It seems to me like they portray themselves as lifelong good ole boys.

Phil himself has addressed it, but I don't watch the stupid show. I doubt they talk about it though, the show is sweet nothings for family values people. Actually addrsssing a personal failure may scare off their audience.

The amount of butthurt this show and the whole First Family of Louisiana in general causes on this board is worth the price of admission.

I love it.

I am not sure what they address on the show itself but there is an I Am Second video that goes in depth into Phil's dark past. It is my understanding that Jep was the only son who had a rebellious stretch with drugs and Alcohol.

Yeah. I started watching their hunting video in the late 90's. They're personalities on the hunting videos are pretty true to the show personas. It seemed like the sons slowly took on the beard thing their dad had going. It was in full swing well before the show was on the radar.

Jesus had a beard and he drank wine... they arent muslims. People that judge others who drink are the hypocrits.

They sell an imagine.. They say a prayer at the end of every episode so everyone think they are good god fearing people, blah blah blah.. If I recall I remember an episode where he bought a place to make wine or some shite, who knows if that was even real, but there will be people who will drink it just because its DD. Unless its quality wine, I would bet sells would peak early then eventually drop off and they will shut it down. They might make a little money off of it, but I am not sure who they are targeting with this.

It's the beauty of Christianity - the bible is so ambigous you can justify about any action one way or another.

If there is a part in the bible you like - it's literal.

If there is a part you don't like - you rationalize it away by looking at the "context" or saying the original word meant something differnet in another language.

No to this whole post.

Same thoughts here. I can see them sticking their brand on all sorts of off the wall kitschy stuff, but this is a strange direction. They'd probably mop up with a decent line of beer, but wine just doesn't match their typical image or fan demographics/culture.

I figure that their male demographic already has pretty much a go to brand of beer, but maybe they are trying to prey on the "hey, I got my beer but the old lady might want some wine" sort of mindset. Branding is powerful and might be enough for an impulse buy. And if the woman doesn't mind it (and it ain't like white zinfandels and rosés are top shelf anyway) then it could get some repeat buys.

Good point, but they could get creative with some craft beer names.

Uncle Si's Silent Night Christmas Stout
Jase's Stank-Eye-P-A
Phil's Pils
Mecca Lecca Lambic
