quote]I guess the Baptists run the cities. They keep everything clean cut.

If you’re a “attend church only on major holidays” backsliding Christian, you live out in the county and buy a case of beer at the gas station every Friday.

Back in the day, those two stores in Dixie Inn, La had the largest beer sales in the ArkLaTex.

Yellow is semi dry which usually mean localities can be dry in those counties

It's more often the opposite. The counties themselves are dry, but there are localities within them have voted to allow alcohol sales.

One thing I do enjoy is that there isn’t a single bar room in the county and not a daiquiri shop in sight. Brings the trashy level way down. As long as Smokey isn’t raising my liquor cabinet at home I am good with it

Eastern Ms and western Ms might as well be 2 different states the culture and values are so different. And the people from each region hate each other.

I remember sorority girls at MSU were told to avoid men from the delta because we are all a bunch of arrogant farmers with money who drink, gamble, and cheat at everything including their girlfriends.

They weren’t wrong.

And the girls rarely followed those instructions

Proof on a map that it just isn't the same culture.

Yet I'd bet the vast majority of the people making these rules and supporting these rules consider themselves "small government conservatives"

Alabama has made many improvements in that regard. Surprised at all the red in Kentucky and Arkansas. Pennsylvania has dumb laws if I remember, feel like we had to buy a six pack at a bar?

I'd love to see a map like this from a few decades ago, during the age of bootleggers.

Indiana has some weird laws about selling cold beer and food sales. I couldn't buy cold beer in a grocery store or convenience store, but if the place was serving food they could sell beer out of a cooler. I don't know if that was local or not, but really annoyed me on a road trip with 3 kids in the car.

Really wanting to secure Louisiana as even more of a blue state than if already is, huh?
