pair of gray bucks I have been wearing for a year. No issues.

look on Allen Edmonds Shoe barn... its factory 2nds have great prices...
They just had a big sale not long ago, didn't buy any.
I bought my first pair or AEs earlier this year, it's amazing how comfortable they are. Will not be going back to cheap dress shoes, if you take care of them they should last for a long time.

I've worn Bostonians for years...

You sure you didn't mean brown? Black is a terrible color for shoes with denim.

There's a gay guy at one of our offices whose really into shoes and he started asking me about the pair I was wearing and brought up that he buys allen edmonds off eBay used, and just gets them re-furbished. Nearly like having new pair of very high qiality shoes at half the price.
I've looked into this route before, but I guess I just couldn't find a good pair that I wouldn't end up paying about $250 for, after re-finishing.

Johnston and Murphy...you can get a pair of their oxfords for around $200. Personally, I wear their wingtips...they are excellent shoes that you can't wear out (at least the ones I bought 15 years ago were that way). I'm sure the oxfords are of similar quality.
Check them on Zappos.

they frequently run sales on the park aves for $199. i have a pair in the mail as we speak. florsheim's suck
eta: Johnston and murphys are also not worth the price. quality not what it was years ago. you're better served getting something from dsw for same or lower price.

Maybe Johnston & Murphy, but you might want to go a little more expensive.
Try Magnanni. They have great shoes. I own a few pair.
J&M high end are way more than $150, but there are definitely rubber bottomed options (that appear to be leather) that are around that range.
FWIW, J&M fit my feet much better than Allen Edmonds. I have both though.

J&M are too plain for me.

I like these two that I wear daily. Also have some burgundy and black ones.

Just standard J&M Brown Cap Toe dress shoes. They'll have several different colors and finish in the same style.

The shine was throwing me off. I haven't seen them with that bright of a shine before.

That's the finish on em. I have the shiny brown ones like the picture. I also keep them in good condition.

Just put a tad bit of water when you are polishing and they'll get a shine on them like that.
